I wonder if these are the same EPG servers that are used for Google's Fiber in Kansas City.?.?
If so, it would not be a good representation of 'their new' tech.
If not, can we use those servers instead?

+1 here on EPG weirdness. I'm not getting an error message about my lineup, but I'm showing a bunch of program data missing for Thursday and Friday, with a Next EPG Update In : 0 Minutes message.

Based on prior experience, the server issue will get resolved and the data will get picked back up, but it's frustrating feels somewhat ominous... and who knows how long it'll take.

I have data on abc but no epg data on abc-hd. What two lines are you talking about and how different is this from forcing epg update via the web server? Thanks.

Same issue here - data stops at about 6-7pm EST on Jan 25 - that is probably midnight UTC on Jan 26.

Wouldn't they just have the lineups that are relevant for KC, like local cable companies and the national satellite companies.

Or if Google expects everyone to get their TV over Google Fiber as well then you would just have the channels and lineup carried by Google TV or whatever it is called.

+1 for being down for EPG. Using XMLTV for Verizon FiOS Wash. Met. Digital - Herndon. I was trying to address another channel issue - not knowing of the wider problem. I deleted and tried to add my Video sources back. Adding the Verizon FiOS Wash. Met. Digital - Herndon lineup took ~5 - 8 minutes. It did come back eventually, and the EPG reads NO DATA for everything.

Use me as a cautionary tale - dont delete your video sources. Will post more as I have it.

Update: my EPG updated at 4:30 am today after no updates all day yesterday (every few hours the Last EPG Update time would change when it tried to call home).

Still missing a bunch of Thursday / Friday data from this week, but it looks like some of it filled in from this morning's successful update, and I have data through 6 p.m. on Sunday 1/27.

Update: The EPG servers are still being watched, but EPG updates should be able to work for everyone again.

If you are still waiting for an EPG update, then toggling a channel will force an EPG update (p. 55 of the PDF manual or this FAQ).

Check your listings over the next few days. If you notice that there are gaps in the EPG data (no listings for some days followed by days with listings), then that can be repaired by this FAQ, particularly:

Quote:
Close down SageTV and the service and open up your Sage.properties file. Try removing all the properties from the that file that have the string 'server_update_id' or 'expanded_until' in them. Now run SageTV again.
When there are multiple lineups, don't forget that there are multiple properties using the two names to be removed. And, if you have no gaps, you don't need to do this.

Well, I toggled, detoggled and retoggled. Some NO DATA has filled in for 1/23 and 1/24 and 1/25, but I am still showing out 10 days to 1/26, not the usual 12 and there are still plenty of NO DATA holes.

Please patch me in to the good server

When I force an update, it provides an update time, but the time to next update is still 0 hours, even after clearing out the Sage properties.

I have gaps only on my Digital HD channels Thursday and Friday only.

No amount of closing SageTV, editing the config file, and restarting Sage will correct the "No Data" gaps. It's only 5 or 6 channels and only the HD ones. No analog are affected.

Unless there is some service running that's not called sagetv, etc that I don't know to stop...

Well, there goes a few hours I'll never get back, but hopefully this will help someone else out...

If you're having a problem where you can't fill in missing data from your guide, here is what may be happening on your PC. You may be editing the wrong "Sage.properties" file, and here is why...

In Windows, when using Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, "Hide Extensions for know file types" should be UNCHECKED. You may need to get to this in a different way for Vista,7,or 8 but that's how I got to it in XP.

If you don't uncheck that box and you are "hiding known extensions", then when you look at the files in the directory you will see:

"Sage" (Executable Jar File)
"Sage" (Properties File)
"Sage.properties" (Autobackup file)

When in fact the files are ACTUALLY:

"Sage.jar" (Executable Jar File)
"Sage.properties" (Properties File)
"Sage.properties.autobackup" (Autobackup file)

So chances are, if you have that box checked in Windows Explorer, you are actually going in and editing the autobackup file (because you are following the instructions on the forum but don't realize you're looking at the wrong file in the directory) and your guide data will never fill in. Once you check that box in Windows Explorer, then you will see the correct file "Sage.properties" to edit

I hope this makes some sort of sense and I'm explaining it properly...

After Andy's latest post, my EPG still didn't work. So, I walked back through the channel setup for my sources and that seemed to get it out of its funk!

I'm running into problems. I just noticed the guide data issue today after missing several recordings. Some of my channels came back after forcing an update in the webserver, but I'm still missing my network channels. I'm trying the sage.properties fix now.

Like an earlier poster, I'm using the Verizon FiOS Wash. Met. Digital - Herndon lineup.

Edit: That seemed to fix it- they're back now.

I'm not looking to point fingers, but out of curiosity, what's been causing these (fairly) recent EPG problems. I used Sage for about 8 years without any problems with the EPG data. It's just been over the past year that I've ran into problems. Is Zap2it running into problems, or have they been related to the Sage EPG servers? I know I saw an earlier post describing some sort of problem when the Sage servers moved.

I only received the "lineup has ended" warning message once for each lineup several days ago. That was it. Things have been back to normal for me for several days.

Looks like I am back now, except for what was missing today, which is water under the bridge, but I am still out only 11 days instead of the normal 12 for the 14 day .properties set.

I was good for a couple of days, but now I'm back to where I was a couple of days ago; only 11 days of data and a Next Update In of 0 minutes. Just forced an update with no joy.

This weekend I'll try the properties file edit, but I'm with reggie14: I'm >9 years using Sage, and other than the Daylight Savings Time change a few years back, the last year is the first time I've seen repeated problems with program data. It's a little frustrating.

And I fully realize that Jeff and company don't owe us anything a year and a half after the Google acquisition, but dropping days, and days without updates, and some borked recordings when a channel's schedule changes in between updates, are really affecting the GAF here...

Looks like we are back to no updates. I forced an update yesterday with the sage.properties file modification and the update worked but did not get the normal number of days out (13/14) and got only 12 days out. Did another forced update this morning with the sage.properties file modification and the update has been running for about 1.5 hours and still shows 0 minutes until the next update as it has each time we have had problems with the Sage servers. Looks like there is a problem again.
