80070057 error and Client start up question.
Hey guys,
So I'm finally setting up a sage server after years of just having SageTV doing the recording on the same box that plays the movies. Music, ripped dvd's and photos are already on a file server. So I'm going to combine them into one new box. So I got the server up and running as I have a second full SageTV license. I also bought a client license before Sage was sold so I have basically what will be the set up once it's all done. Music and photos play/show just fine. The coax from the antenna seems to have no signal, but I'm guess that once I re-run that line everything should remedy that and I'll be able to set up recordings from the client. My problem is that when I go to play a DVD I get an error: -3,0x80070057. I found this thread about it: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...light=80070057 But I don't understand the answer. Should I not point the Sage server to the DVD directories (which are in the server) and just have the client see the DVD directories via UNC paths (or drive letters since I'll likely not run the client in service more)? I'm just a little confused. If this has been covered in the forums or in the manual just point me to it. Also, one more question. Every time I start up the client I get asked to enter the server IP or name. It seems to find it every time to I just hit <Enter>. Is that normal behavior for a Sage Client? Thanks all.

This is normal. You can edit your SageClient.properties file in your SageTV dir on the client. Add the IP for your server to autoconnect_server_hostname=

Bob, RedR,
Thanks for the replies. Got home. deleted the share mappings in sageclient, remapped them using unc paths. Then mapped the share drive to the client machine in "my computer". Also got into the properties file and put in the server's name. Started up sageclient and after having to fiddle with which audio codec to use, I had a dvd playing just fine. Thanks for the help. cheers.
