ADM and Gemstone Conflict
Prior to installing Gemstone I chose to install ADM in SageTV v7. I used ADM to simplify, by hiding, items in the menu that are unimportant to me. After installing Gemstone, I was notified that it was incompatible with ADM therefore ADM was automatically disabled. I went ahead an uninstalled it.
However, Gemstone does seem to honor the menu items which ADM had hidden since they are all still hidden under Gemstone. Fine. However, now I'm wanting to begin experimenting with Flows and the Create Default Flows option is not on the menu, nor is it available if I go into the menu manager where I assumed it would be hidden. I realize I can go into Flow manager and create them, however when I do that they are all empty. Or is that normal operation and I have to configure them to display anything? In which case I seriously need a guide as I have no idea what any of the configuration details mean. I looked in the filters section of configuration and noted that they seem to be based on BMT's Browse views. The only one of these views that works for me is All Imported Video (slow) - and when it says slow, it means it. After 30 minutes of the spinning circle I gave up... Any documentation available? ADM and Gemstone are not compatible as Gemstone included ALL the same functionality as ADM (mostly the same code as I am the author) with some added functionality and compatibilty so it worked better inside Gemstone.
We have not had time to build a new ADM like Wiki for Gemstone so you just need to use the ADM one located here and adjust to the differences. Creating Flows. You need to keep Flow creation and the Menu Manager items that may reference a Flow item separate. To create one or more Flows just go into Options on the Main Menu and select Flow Manager... select create a single Flow or All Default Flows etc. With the default Menu Manager settings in Gemstone the menus will dynamically display All existing Flows in the Videos menu. If you want them else where in your own menu structure the go into Menu Manager and create a menu item anywhere and then select the Action as the specific Gemstone Flow "that you previously created". As for the Flow Views.... you are mostly correct in that these Views are Views handled by the phoenix core which BMT also uses. The Movies and TV Views should display your media unless there is an issue with the metadata within BMT... best to ensure BMT can list your media first using those TV/Movie views and then the same should work in Gemstone. Post more questions if you have as the forum users of Gemstone are great at answering questions... and search as well as many may have already been answered. k |

Thanks for the information. Yes, I knew a "new and improved" ADM was contained as a component in Gemstone. I likely should have reset ADM to default SageTV menus and uninstalled it before installing Gemstone. Maybe what I'll try is to have Gemstone reset the default SageTV menus and see what that gets me.
You see, I had previously installed Gemstone during an earlier experimentation with SageTV v7 a couple weeks ago. And I had noted at that time that there was a selection under the Videos menu called something like "Create Default Flows", which automatically created examples of the various flow types. It's that which is missing on the Video menu now. And I don't see it in Menu Manager as something that is hidden. This may not be important, as I know I can do the same thing as you describe. I simply need to experiment a bit more and read the forum a lot more. Thanks, RLW |
