RCA DirecTV program info annoyance

I am using a serial connection from my Sage system to change channels on my RCA DirecTV reciever. The receiver is then connected to my PVR 350 via S-Video. When I change channels, the program info from my RCA box shows up on screen under the Sage TV program info. Does anyone know how to turn the program info on my DirecTV box off?

I was afraid of that. It's annoying enought that I am going to buy a different DirecTV box. Any recommendations on models that display a minimum of info when changing channels?

yeah my sony only displays the channel name and number small in the top right hand corner and the screen is usually black during that time so it is not even shown when there is video present

It has a true serial port but has only one svideo, 2 composite, and one coxial outputs not component or DVI outputs
do not know if you need them
also the boxes are small, black, and look very clean (nice)

comes with a nice remote as well
