End of File bug

I'm getting the end of file bug, and all the reading I've done indicates that it's a 350 bug. I'm using 2 Roslyns & getting it.

Clean install:

AXP 2600 / Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
input - Roslyn
input - Roslyn
output - 9800 Pro

There is nothing running on this box but Sage. I've also tried the never_stop_encoding=true .

Still getting eof crashes.

Any suggestions or resolutions I might have missed in my searches?

Could this be a Roslyn problem? If so, will going to retail 250's solve it?

Attached are several hs_err 's

Don't have a clue if it's a Roslyn issue but have never seen the problem with my multiple 250s. You didn't say, have you sent the issue and file to Frey tech support?

I submitted a support request, didn't see a way to attach a file.

I'm at the point where I might go buy 2 retail 250's to see if they'll work.

My wife is already screaming.

I've never submitted a support request (been lucky I guess), just assumed attaching a file would be possible. Oops. Seems I've heard of people sending them to support anyway. Guess they'll ask for it if they want it or someone will be along to enlighten us on how to pre-emptively send it!

Simply email tech support.

Edit: Those are all java error logs. Have you tried reinstalling java and/or any of your drivers? I haven't used roslyn cards, so I'm not familiar with their problems.

I'm sure it's a Roslyn problem.

I just HWCLEAR'ed, stuck in two retail PVR-250's, and the EOF's are no more.

GEE! More Roslyn problems. Who would've guessed?

I've been in contact with support for two weeks on my issue to no acceptable result. I can't believe they released these Pieces of crap on the public.

Beau

I have 1 350 and 3 250 version 16's. They are all retail versions. I use them with analog cable. The picture quality is really, really good on all of them. Every single channel is perfect. Therefore, I wouldn't ever really consider buying the cheapened down version. My guess would be that the Roslyns are probably as good at picture quality as the retail 250/350's, especially since they are being sold to serious PVR users, but I'd rather not take the take the chance, given how much this all costs. Might as well buy the retail version since the price difference in the cards is just a small part of an entire setup. In fact, if I was buying more cards, I might go ahead and buy the more expensive USB version just for the convenience.

Good to hear using 250s cleared up the problem. Not good about the Roslyn's, but good you have a working solution at the moment. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that if for some bizarre reason I decide to go beyond 5 PVRs, it'll be another 250. Unless and until totally new technology arrives for HDTV pure digital video with full theater sound record hardware encoding...

I have problems with the 350 output locking up. I use OSD and UI with the 350. I've gone as long as 3 days without the 350 locking up. I'm still trying to figure out the problem.

Try my STV at the following thread:

http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...d=5947#newpost

I was having the same problem with the built-in STV and with the one I was modifying. The solution I put into my STV seems to work fine for me with my PVR-350 TV-out & UI on.

Let me know if it works for you....

Lauren

P.S. Your cats look like my *one* "little terror" does. Very cute cats.

laurenglenn,

What are you doing... checking the show length against the playback timer and stopping playback a few seconds before the end of file? It's mainly academic curiousity, but I was considering ways to work around this issue. I'll definitely have to take a closer look at your STV.

I too see this bug more now than I used to. I have a 350, 250, and USB2, and Sage becomes very sluggish if I let a recorded show run until the very end and don't change the screen for a couple of minutes, maybe even seconds. I am talking about a ten to twenty second delay on menu changes. I have found that reloading Sage fixes this bug, but it is very annoying. I don't know if this is the newest beta drivers, or I just haven't let shows run till the end like that before.

MlbDude, is there any chance you can do whatevery laurenglenn did to your skin. I love your skin, and would like to eliminate this last bug on my system.

Nothing that complex. Although, that was something along the lines of what I was thinking about doing.

There was some code in there that I removed and there was a jump to display an option menu I put in. Ever since I did that, the EOF bug doesn't seem to happen.

There's an update to the STV which might work better than the last attempt.

http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...&threadid=5947

Give it a try and let me know if it works.

Lauren
