I've been trying this out today and I just wanted to say I'm very pleased with it, thank you.

I just made sure the channel names in the comments at the end of each frq line matched exactly with those used on KingOfSat, and hey presto, it updated all the incorrect ones for me. Brilliant!

A minor point: I think it's maybe a little harsh to insist that the capitalization is correct? I think I'm right in saying that, am I? For example "POP" didn't seem to match with "Pop"?

That's nothing though, particularly as editing the names is a once-only thing; if this works as well my testing today suggests it will, then the WAF factor will be tremendous.

Thanks again.

Edit: I see the capitalization thing has already been discussed, sorry.

You're right the name match must be perfect because it must be unique.

I'm glad this plugin helped you, but is not that easy to find, and I'm not sure whether this thread can be set sticky, also despite the DVB-S standard is not UK specific, the number of satellite dish here is pretty high, so maybe it could be a good idea to move this thread under the UK section...

It isn't easy to find, no, I don't remember ever looking in Europe Miscellaneous until I got your PM.

I agree this plugin would be useful to lots of Sage users, and that there is a problem telling them about it. I considered posting in the UK forum but decided that might be treading on your toes; perhaps you could put a note there pointing people here.

Have you considered contacting Brent Evans (the Geek Tonic); maybe he could feature it on his blog? I know Brent also set up a Google+ Sage circle a while back - that might be a good place to publicize it too.

Hope this helps. It's a cracking plugin!

I agree, it helps a lot with the WAF! One small issue is that the .frq files that your plugin creates don't open properly in Notepad, the word wrap is all wrong. I can open them fine in Notepad++, but I have had issues before with editing .frq files with this text editor.

It is the line ending, please use Wordpad or TextPad. Notepad is awful, however once the plugin is configured properly, in theory, you shuldn't need to edit your .FRQ files any more

Finally pulled the trigger on this and let it overwrite my frq files. A number of (unimportant) channels have been deleted:
1. EuroNews, even though I checked the spelling, it kept being deleted. Once I restored the entry from a backup, your plugin accepted it but the audio is in Portuguese.
2. True Movies 1 has disappeared off KingofSat for some reason.
3. More than Movies (more>movies) is not listed on KingofSat.
Other than that, it works exactly as advertised. Thanks!

The "True Movies 1" channel renamed itself to "True Christmas" related channel showing only Christmas themed movies, a little bit early

"EuroNews" first language is Portuguese, but I reckon you just need to set the preferred language to English in SageTV configuration?

Thanks, I had missed the name change to True Christmas. The Euronews one was a bit strange as the audio track was set to "#6 eng MP2" which gave me Portugese, but selecting "#1 por MP2" gave me English! This was on the server, but when I tested it on my HD300 it worked correctly. It's not important as I only use the HD300 to watch TV.

The recent temporary disappearance of 4Seven and Channel 4 HD from KingofSat highlights a small bug with this plugin. If a channel temporarily disappears, it is removed from the frq file, but is not reinstated when it returns to the web site. Would it be possible to just leave the "stub" of the channel entry, so that it is picked up again when it returns?

Hi,

I understand your frustration, but what you're experienced is done by design, basically how do you distinguish from a channel being temporarily from permanently removed?

I know is annoying, however I've got a plan to add an extra configuration option whereby the "allegedly" removed channel will be parked/marked as removed and eligible to being re-inserted at the next channel upgrade.

Eddy,
That's what I thought, but in a way it doesn't matter as deleting the entry doesn't remove it from the EPG, so either way it causes confusion.

Hi Pat,

next release will have another option in the plugin's configuration that allows to keep the deleted channels in the .FRQ file for subsequent evaluation.

The new release (v1.1.1) also removes the "pilot:0" from the FRQ files which sometimes prevents SageTV from tuning channels successfully as it will be discovered automatically from the TS.

Also, before the update is recommended to set the "Override" setting to FALSE just in case, check that everything is fine before setting back to TRUE.

Cheers
Eddy

Eddy,

Did the upgrade yesterday after testing as you suggested. No problems, and thanks for sorting the deleted channels issue!

the tool is designed to mantain the current lineup, to create a new lineup you need to manually import every channel via the sagetv interface or use third party solution that will add the EPG as well.

The UK section has a thread with some guide, I hope it will be helpful

new feature?

it could be a good new feature for this plugin the option to add channels to sage automatically in case the lineup is empty, a good way to start from scratch without doing a channel scan...I'll think about it.

excellent! does this application generates the .FRQ files as well?

alternatively you could feed back the frq generated by the DVB-S Importer to the PredefinedDVBS.frq file selecting only the channel you want, run a sagetv scan that will only scan the channels you want and will add the channels to the tuner lineup, I never done it this way myself, but it could work.

I understand your frustration but to add channels to sagetv is not too bad, you can add your channels list you published in half an hour and because you have four identical tuners is a one off operation
