Fanart for dummies?
I need some help with fanart.
I'm trying to use gemstone but I'm not having much luck with fanart showing up. I had been using Phoenix with varying levels of success, but I'm not sure why. Can someone walk me through setting up fanart? I've seen at least three different menus related to the topic, not to mention different settings on my 2 hd300's, client, and server. I'd like to have fanart for tv and movies in Gemstone. Thanks, Uberpixel

Make sure you have BMT installed on your server and set to automatically download fanart/metadata. You will need to share the location for your clients to access it.
On your clients you will need to point to the fanart shared fanart folder, If the fanart location was not previously set before Gemstone attempted to cache the fanart locally you will need to, 1. Clear Memory Cache 2. Clear File System Cache 3. Prebuild Cache I also install CMT (JREkiwi) that adds a menu item that allows you to search for Fanart and Metadata if there is a delay and you want to update it right away. CMT can also manage the fanart a bit as well. The Fanart Manager (when you have a poster or show highlighted, use ESC / Option button to bring up the menu and select Fanart Manager) can be used to set the default fanart for TV (Series/Season) and Movies if you don't like the default ones scraped by BMT/Phoenix (not their fault BTW, fanart is kind of hit or miss sometimes). On your extenders they will all share the fanart that is cached locally on the server. I don't mean the folder that BMT stores all the fanart (mine is C:\FANART\ on my Server SSD OS drive for speedup) it downloads but the folder in "C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\userdata\Phoenix\cache\imagetrans\GemstoneImages" (also on SSD for extender fanart speedup) I just did a Server re-install a few weeks ago and I re-install my Clients quite regularly for testing and I'm all working, just make sure you have your fanart location set. Good luck. Last edited by jorton; 10-08-2012 at 04:26 PM. |

Okay.
I'll give it a shot when I get home tonight. Thanks!
