Is 2Gb really enough for SageTV 7 and freeview tuners?

Time to focus on just the UK community I think!

So, I am about to re-build a second SageTV box having run on a 2Gb Tranquil PC using WHS and SageTV 7 and currently running on a Zotac ZBOX 2Gb system under Windows 7 Ultimate and SageTV 7.

On both ocassions after about a year or so it simply slowed down.

Extender clicks (through menus or to play something) take in some instances (like listing videos/recordings) up to 50-60 seconds to respond and the FF/RW buttons don;t respond then respond too quickly or jump to far.

On previous ocassions a clean install and transfer of the WIZBIN/Properties file has resolved the problem.

I am running 2 Dual HD Homerun tuners. They record without issues (unless re-tuning of the transmitters is occurring - a common issue in the UK these days and they are soooo susceptible to slight changes its not funny!).

Almost always its the extender experience that slows down. In standalone mode connected to the network the extenders work at acceptable speed throughout so this is not my network or the NAS backbone which continue to work. I reboot my server automatically every couple of days to ensure the SageTV service under Windows 7 is healthy and running without too much memory but, ultimately this memory gets consumed. I am using recommended JVM memory settings which I am reluctant to mess about with.

I had nothing on these systems other than SageTV 7 running with Diamond but little else other than essentials (like BMT) and MyMovies Services/Collection Management which is disabled unless I am adding movies to the system (using AnyDVD/Clone DVD) and drivers of course (HD Homerun etc)

The question is, IS 2Gb enough using an Intel Atom (330) backbone and ONLY extenders (5 in total) and if so, WHY DOES SAGETV slow down gradually over time?
