my current list of V2 issues

I was finally able to get about 5 hours of test time with SageTV 2.0. I was hoping to get more test time in before listing the issues but have decided to go and post what I currently.

1. The most serious which may prevent me from going to V2, is that if you enable the UI on the 350 TV out, you lose resize ability. As soon as you enable the options SageTV seems to go to a fixed size on the monitor and the size cannot be changed. You cannot even go to fullscreen. This is a loss of function from SageTV version 1.4.

2. I believe this is currently motherboard/driver issue. With the UI enabled, when starting SageTV or coming out of SageTV sleep mode I have colorbars on my TV until I play a program, then the UI appears and works properly.

3. When I press info on my remote I see the mouse controls and time line infor come up on the monitor but nothing on the TV. I would expect to at least see the timeline on the TV, The timeline does appear on the TV when I skip with the remote.

4. This is only a issue with multiple tuners. When SageTV is sleeping with multiple recordings, moving the mouse over the SageTV icon displays a message about what is recording. The problem for me is that SageTV attempts to display this all in one very long line, like "Sage TV - Recording "XXX" at 10:30 on 74 G4TTV and". This line is trucated and only useful for 1 tuner at most for me. I think Frey could replace the " and " with a newline character which would then display multiple lines if multiple recordings are occuring.

5. This is an enhancement request, which I believe Studio will allow me to do. However, I believe this is basic functionality which should be available as part of SageTV. I should be able to see a list of programs I have already watched and be able to turn off the watched flag if I want to.

6. I know Frey is working on it, but want to mention that currently there is no user manual. They should be ashamed of themselves for releasing a "Final" release without the manual.

Re: my current list of V2 issues

I can't say anything about 1 - 3, since I don't have a 350...

I can certainly agree with that one! I don't know why it isn't already in there, as I am sure they are using multiple tuners too. (Unless there is some problem with getging a newline char to work there...)

Try malore's STV -- you can access such a history view & make changes for past recordings.

Yes, that was surprising! It leaves new users wondering how everything works & not all of them want to spend time online in the forum.

My belief is that heat from BTV drove the decision. Looking at the list of enhancements and fixes that was slated and then dropped leads me to believe that the imminent arrival of multi-tuner BTV caused the move to release Sage 2, perhaps a bit prematurely. I am surprised that a point release hasn't put in an appearance by now.

I don't blame them. Sometimes, you've got to assess and make a call.
