EPG "No Data" and no providers available

Came home yesterday to find my EPG listing "No Data" for all channels after 10:00pm.

Since it didn't seem to have updated in a while, I did the enable/disable a channel trick to force an update. System Information claims it did an update, but even a couple hours later it was still "No Data."

I then tried the techniques of changing the EPG Lineup or removing a source and re-adding it, but when I got to the "select your cable or satellite provider" screen (the screen immediately after entering your zip code), there were no providers listed! As of when I last added a source a couple weeks ago, there were providers listed on this screen, so something has clearly changed in the meantime.

I've checked the internet connection on the server, so I don't think the problem is on my end.

Is anyone else seeing this? Is there a problem with the EPG server?

Good news everyone!

After much research and a number of attempted fixes with no luck, I finally figured out how to resolve this issue. When I restored to a backup from a few weeks ago, I discovered I was able to get EPG data again and decided to compare my sage.properties files between the two builds.

Between then and now, I had installed Slugger's Mc2Xml plugin so that I'd have it when the EPG went down sometime in the future and disabled it in the plugin menu to keep it from interfering with my system. Even though it was disabled, it seems that the line:
Quote:
epg/epg_import_plugin=com.google.code.sagetvaddons.mc2xmlepg.EPGImportPluginMc2Xml
in the properties file was preventing the Sage EPG from showing lineups and updating. By changing that line back to the older configuration:
Quote:
epg/epg_import_plugin=
I was able to get my Sage EPG working again.

If the Sage EPG goes down in the future, I'll just have to add restoring this line to my configuration process for Mc2Xml.

Just to add some info, my plugin's wiki doc is pretty explicit that you must manually remove this line in order to completely disabled/uninstall/remove the EPG plugin. That line will override the EPG provider as long as it's present. I can't stress that enough. I'm unable to automate that part of the uninstall because there is no way for my code to be informed when you uninstall a plugin so I can never know when to actually do it.

Thanks Slugger.

I had looked at the wiki, but I guess I must not have looked very closely at that section of it. Certainly not your fault.
