I bought a different firewire peripheral card than the one that I have installed now. I am going to try that. If that doesn't work, I am going to re-install Windows. Hopefully that will do the trick

I tried a different firewire card. Didn't help. Same error. I am now at the point where I have to re-install Windows to get this working. Sucks because I had everything set up the way I wanted it until I made this switch.

Does anyone have any other suggestions before I take such a drastic measure? Also, what do I need to do to get SageTV back to where I had it before and not lose all my programming and favorites, etc?

Thanks in advance.

I got it working!!

For anyone who may run into this problem in the future, here's what I did:

Under the folder Windows/inf there is a file setupapi.dev.log. In there I discovered that the file it could not find was stream.sys. Although I had stream.sys on my computer in System32/drivers, for some reason it could not find it. Maybe it had something to do with virus protection?? Not sure.

Anyway ... I copied stream.sys (and avcstrm.sys) to the drivers folder. I completely uninstalled all STB hardware and rebooted. Then I updated the driver one more time and Voila! it worked!!

Now I can move forward with the steps to setup channel changing.
