I did a test shot on my Test machine using an xml file from my main server.

1. Make sure you have Web Server installed.
2. Export XML file this contains all favorites. Shows show locations etc..
3. Shutdown Server
4. Backup your wiz.bin
5. Delete it.
6. Start sage make sure your Guide is setup and Tuners if not you will lose your channel numbers.
7. Import xml file in Webserver ... Make sure to check off appropriate boxes
8. All your redcordings will show up as archived.
9. You will have to unarchive them etc...

No Previous viewing history etc.. but my wiz.bin went from 42 mb to 15 mb.
What's the secret to getting into the web server? every time I try, I get a 'service not available' URL. Is this a port problem with my installation?

Did you follow this thread
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...0&postcount=11
Also did you restart the sagetvservice after installing the server.

yes, followed that thread thanks. Sagetvservice is currently not started...is that necessary?

OK, enabled and restarted service, restarted sage - and can get into the Web Applications URL, however, the "SageTV Web Interface version 2.33.1749" doesn't have a Sage icon beside it (whereas the other listed apps do). When attempt to access, get "service not available" url.

Can both SageTV and the Webserver be using the same port aka 8080?

I do not understand what you are trying to do the default port for the server is 8080. You can set it to what you like configure the plugin. It just works there is really nothing to do except access it the way I said above. The server will not work unless sage is running after all it is a sage plugin

OK - finally got it running - voodoo of some kind - lol

strange thing - everything copies via xml just dandy EXCEPT the channel that a program was recorded from. Even though I can see the five-digit channel designation in the XML file, what gets imported seems to eliminate that from the "detailed info" of each recording. Any ideas?

for example - if you look under "detailed info" for a recording, the original channel info, let's say 274 SPEEDHD, gets turned into "recorded from..." and lists the time the show was recorded for a 2nd time, instead of the channel number and name. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will.

I get that when moving recordings from drive to drive in import directories. Never seen it when moving from one recording directory to another recording directory. The channels in a lineup should remain the same as long as the lineup remains the same but I could see that as a possible problem if they don't. If it doesn't match it wouldn't display correctly. What I suspect has to happen however is that the airingID, media fileID and channelID all have to match the current wiz.bin and when they don't SageTV drops things like channel designation. I've just gotten use to it when moving recordings to import directories. I must have close to 30% of my import directory recordings without a channel designation. Also worthy of note is that when I've seen no channel and it is still a favorite that airing will get re-recorded the next time it is on.

Step 6 says to make sure your guide data is setup.

6. Start sage make sure your Guide is setup and Tuners if not you will lose your channel numbers.

well, my guide data is setup and tuners functional, however, there may be the odd channel that was checked/unchecked between the two opposing boot drives. I take it those lineups have to be completely identical then?

ok, thanks. I will cross-check all channel maps and give it one more go

UPDATE: completely mimicking each channel map for each tuner, aka which channels are included and which are selected, has to be exactly the same between "from" and "to" xml files. This was tough, since there were two mapped channels I had created as a test and then not deleted - hence, the new build didn't have those channels.

now...where are all these .properties files coming from?

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I think my wiz.bin is messed up and want to recreate it. In the instructions it says to export the xml data via the web server. Is there a place to export ALL the xml data, or do I need to go into recordings and export the xml, then into favorite and export that xml, and so on? Or is there a place to do a mass export of everything?

BTW, I'm running the latest Sage 7 and the Sage Webserver v2.43.

Thanks!

-Gary

At the top of the Sage Recordings Screen orange XML button.

Also in the favorites screen you can export your favorites.

Thanks for the info. I exported recordings.xml and favorites.xml, then followed all the steps in earlier post. Once I restarted Sage and saw my EPG populated, I went back to the webserver and imported recordings.xml, checking the "TV Airings" checkbox. I then imported my Favorites, checking that box.

The favrorites imported fine, but I'm not seeing any recordings. I've checked both TV -> Recordings -> All Recordings as well as TV -> Recordings -> Archived Recordings and Sage doesn't see any recordings.

It's not the end of the world if I can't get my recordings back but I'd like to if possible. Anyone have any ideas of what else I can do? I've also restarted the Sage service too (after the import), just in case that was necessary.

Thanks,

-Gary

You need to also check "Import TV files" If you do not Import the files then how do you expect to see the files? You shoul also check "Force use of channels that are not currently viewable" if you want the channel info.

Thanks again for the info. I redid all the steps to create a new wiz.bin again (I figured I'd start clean). This time when importing the recordings I checked everything you suggested. I got a bunch of results like this:

Airing "Survivorman" at Sat, Aug 30 6:00PM on 866 SCIHD imported
=> successfully assigned imported airing to MediaFile

However in the GUI it still doesn't see any recordings.

I noticed at the end of the import it said this:

Imported 79 mediaFiles
failed importing 15 mediaFiles
Importing 0 Airings:

Imported 0 airings

Does that look correct? I'm not worried about the failed 15 media files but I would have thought it would have imported "Airings" right? Did I do my export of the XML wrong? All I did was go into the recordings area of hte webserver and clicked on the orange XML and saved that file.

Thanks

-Gary

Did you save the XML file using the original wiz.bin file ... if not that is the problem ... you need to create the file using the original wiz.bin file.... and you should really Install the CMT plugin and have it create properties files makes it a lot easier to recreate wiz.bin.

PS I am done with Sage so I will not be on this forum in the future as much.

Yup, I made the xml from the original wiz.bin. I can view the xml file in a text editor and see all the recording information. I just don't see the recordings after I do the import.

Should I see the recordings immediately after the import, or do I need to wait a while? I've also gone into Detailed Settings -> Advanced and rescanned the library, but that didn't help either.

I s'pose I can put the original wiz.bin back in place and try the export again.

Make sure you are not filtering your recordings all recordings will show up as Archived.

No, no filtering. In the Sage gui I've gone into TV -> Recordings -> All Recordings (as well as Archived Recordings) and nothing shows up. On the webserver side I've gone into "Recording" (in the SageTV menu) and nothing appears.

I feel like I'm real close, but just not close enough. :-)
