SageTV Software Limits?
I trying to setup a PC to control 2 big projectors (80in each.) The output are standard RGB Monitor type deals, pretty basic. What I need to be able to do is have one pc be able to display on both projectors, and be able to display at least 3 video streams at once across the 2 displays. What I have to work with is a P4 2.6 ghz with 512 of ram on Windows XP. Things I know I need to buy, Dual-Display vid card (thinking RADEON 9800,) 3 tuner/capture cards (open to suggestions here, was looking at the Hauppauge Roslyn PVR card,) SageTV software, I figure I will need to pump up the ram to at least 1 gig, willing to go up to 2 gig if needed.
The Million Dollar question is, will it work? SageTV's qebsite is unclear about wether you can VIEW multiple feeds at once, and further if you could view those multiple feeds on the secondary display on a WindowsXP Extended Desktop type setup. Your help is appreciated, Alex |

No, you can't view multiple streams simultaneously with Sage.
Plus getting video on both displays simultaneously can be tricky with any app, you might have better luck with something like a Quadro. |

Quadro
By Quadro I assume you mean the nVidia Display adapter? Even with that new display adapter, what software would be able to show multiple feeds at once across multiple monitors?

The only one I can think of ATM is MythTV, but that runs on Linux, and is only PIP AFAIK.
The one exception, it may be possible to run multiple instances of SageClient, with each displaying separate video, but I can't remember if running multiple instances caused problems or not. |

You could run a copy of SageTV and SageTVClient on the same machine... but there could still be a problem getting them both to be able to output video at the same time. I don't know how you would be getting 3 video streams on 2 displays, though -- OH: you can run multiple copies of the client. I wonder if multiple streams can be viewed at the default setting instead of using overlay? I gues then the projectors would be set up as an extended Windows desktop & you would just show 3 video playback windows.
I've read comments that multiple xcards can be used in the same machine, but again, SageTV wouldn't be the one doing the output to both screens & you will probably get video output only. Then, there might be the issue of connecting to computer monitor type connections. I have absolutely no idea if anything I said will actually work for you... just tossing out ideas. - Andy

Per support
They've had 7 screens at once. We'll see this Friday.
