Any attempt to sleep Sage results in ActiveMovie window

I initially thought i had a collision bet Sage & TT, and requested help in this thread . But, I was wrong.

Turns out, everytime I put sage to sleep, when I wake it up to play a TV show, it'll open it in a forked activemovie window.

This happens on either VMR9 or overlay, and with every decoder there is [sonic, intervideo, intervideo noncss, elecard, cyberlink].

The very funny thing is that I don't have to start up another app that messes with the overlay or VMR to get the ActiveMovie. I just tried:
1) starting up sage
2) watching a TV show
3) sleeping
4) wait(5)
5) wake up sage
6) watch a TV show

and it results in an ActiveMovie window.

no idea. Any clue? I've got an ATI 9000 pro.

yeah update video card drivers
uninstall and reinstall sage
delete properties file or at least you can try to find out what line is causing the problem
I remember goofy stuff happening with mine
make sure you are running the latest java
do not install codec packs

but first post the properties file

ok your property files looks fine
since it is your client it may be easy to uninstall and delete the freys folder
if you have the station logos save them

I do not know if you deleted it last time but it may help
have you install directx 9b?
I am sure you have but this is starnge do you have 3d acceleration on with overlay ?
It did not look like you did the properties but just to make sure
goto msconfig via run in the start menu and goto the start up tab and whats starting with your computer?
do you have old video card drivers installed ex.

like you did not uninstall the old ones before installing the newer ones?

on Dx9b, wmp9. 3d accel off within sage, set as low as i can within cat 4.5 [in troubleshoot tab]. Any lower and Sage won't connect to the overlay mixer.

Not that much strange stuff running that an HTPC wouldn't run:
- AsusProb
- jusched
- atiptaxx
- sstray
- pdesk
- fusionhdtvtray
- launchpd
- autorun killer
- winzip quick pick
- girder3
- powerstrip

any other thoughts? this is killing the acceptability of the HTPC.

So it's just me and IVB having this problem????????

I put in a tech support request yesterday to Frey. Hopefully I will hear back soon.

BTW.............This is a Sage problem. It dosen't happen in WMP9 using the Sonic decoders, and it happens right now with Sage no matter what decoders, and in Overlay, default, or VMR9

i've been monitoring your thread too - Is your issue on Sage or SageClient?

Oddly enough, my Sage is just fine. It's only my sage clients that have the issue. The main difference is the video cards, but I tried both a G550 & now my ATI9000, and they both throw the same issue.

The machine that works has some POS card that came with the VAIO desktop that's acting as my server.

disable jusched and autorun killer
you do not need the java scheduler running it is bullcrap
autokiller is some theatertek application right?
disable it
I am almost thinking it is the problem since you are using the same decoder for both applications

you do not need theatertek to autodtart with your computer to use it
right now it is just taking up memory along with some of the others

sstray what this a snapstream thing?
if so disable it

the asus thing, girder, powerstrip, ati thing, the fusion application should be all you need and sageTV of course

not sure what launchpad or pdesk is but not worried you decide how your pcs performance is
but you can launch these applications without them autostarting with your computer

same for winzip
when these autostart all they do is slow the computer down and cause performance issues

but I am guessing since both of you are using thatertek that if you disable it from autostarting with your computer this will go away(active window crap)

thanks for the suggestions.

No dice, though. I actually liberally disabled tons of stuff from starting, and I get the same issue.

Now that reply will certainly encourage others to try and help you out! Gee, I've only been registered since April so won't make any feeble attempt. Too bad I've also been actively working in computer hardware support in the field for 20years... Plus too bad I just last month did my first SageTV and Client(s) builds, and all is working flawlessly. Might even have had an idea or two since initial config' of Client on my wife Debi's PC had an annoying ActiveMovie Window issue, doesn't anymore...

john f: What's your detailed h/w config? Maybe we can see what we have in common.

mdmint..........why do you take offense???? I was just frustrated because I'm not getting any answers from someone like yourself who has had this problem and resolved it..........

Please............if you have some insite post it here. You will help not only myself and IVB, but anyone else who reads this thread in the future.............

IVB,

My system:

ASUS a7n8x-deluxe
Athlon Xp2600+
1 GB Ram
Celestica 9600XT w/128mb ram
PVR-250
Seagate 120gm and RAID 200GB drives

Software:
Sage 2.0
Theatertek DVD
Powerstrip running at 960 x 540 32 bit
myHTPC frontend
Imon remote control software
Zonealarm
Norton system works
Spybot
Daemon tools

Note:
I just received my first response from Tech support.....and it was not very encouraging. He asked me to try a different decoder..............Oh well, guess they don't read the board so he had no way of knowing I had already done that. Maybe his next reply will be the cure????

hmm - I also have an A7N8X, mine is the E-deluxe.

However, I also have a 2nd machine with SageClient that has an A7V600 - it used to have this issue, I don't use it much anymore for non-sage purposes, and we shut down the PC once we're done with sage so I haven't needed to sleep it. Let me check that out in a bit and post back. No idea why the mobo would result in issues as it's got no video on it, but maybe it's not playing nice with something else.

btw, in my tech-support email, I listed every decoder I tried as well as both VMR9/overlay, so maybe my first contact will be more detailed.

My point was that this is a users forum with people freely trying to share ideas and help others. The "real" answer jab etc., well I just personally didn't like it or the seeming to me attitude behind it. No one here gets paid for posting ideas or attempting to solve someone elses problems...

Ok, I'll try to replicate the problem again on Debi's PC. (I didn't detail the steps to get rid of it or try to put the problem back. If a problem can't be replicated it's tough to be sure what the cure is.)

Interesting though my main HTPC Client has never had the problem and I believe has the same sysbrd and similar video card to those experiencing the issue. Debi's PC has an old ECS K7S5A SIS chipset sysbrd with lower end Saphire Radeon 7000 32M...

Ok, Debi's PC had a similar though different ActiveMovie Window problem. Popped up whenever playing back, not just after sleep. This occurred using Cyberlink decoder, VMR9 AND 3D enabled. It does not occur with 3D disabled. With Sonic decoder 3D enabled does not pop up ActiveMovie Window. (installed Sonic decoder a couple days ago on HTPC and threw it on Debi's too) Symptom is replicatable. ActiveMovie Window popping up does indeed appear to be a decoder config issue rather than Sage itself issue.

Yeah I got john mad when I explained there is a work around if you really want to do VMR9 (with 3d accel) when using cyberlink decoder non ATI
I got off topic because his problem was with sonic
I have never seen that before with other decoders
but I thought something was not releasing the decoders (like another application was using them) that why my last statement was to disable TT from starting with the computer and restart
