Wow, you and wayner must have been posting simultaneously...

Note it only is labeled as "media player", not extender. No mention of working as an extender for SageTV software, but mention of an internal hard drive.

Was this a prototype media player device that someone was testing for Sage which never went to market? The labeling looks too "real" to be completely homemade.

They did mention a specific model STP-HD250 and firmware, so it sounds like they are passing it off as an official unit. I thought it might be a prototype, but you would think they would market that in the listing to get a really high bid. If it was real, think about how much you could sell that thing for to a sage fanatic.

It almost looks like a modded hdpvr box to me, or a small form factor pc with some decals on it.

sneaky..

"SHS" is the username of a moderator here (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/member.php?u=21). He has always had an in @ hauppauge, IIRC.

weird that he'd sell a prototype (if it is that), but perhaps if there is no "SageTV LLC" to complain anymore, it may not matter.

Got the response below. His ratings are good on ebay and based on the comments above, it may be a legit prototype. If it is, I wonder what it can do with the hard drive connections. Perhaps it was a prototype for a full server version.

By the pics, it looks to be somewhere in size between the 100 and 200.

So this is basically an HD200 with internal and external SATA ports, or am I missing something?

Based on the description in the listing, you pretty much have it. It's an HD200 with some extras. It's too bad they didn't incorporate some of this into the HD300, but I suspect they wanted to hit that low $149 price point in a small foot print (like the roku). In addition, the extra noise, power and heat from a hard drive might have played into excluding it.

Being that this is virtually a one of a kind item, I wonder how much it will end up going for?

In this case, it will be interesting to see if being a one of a kind item increases or decreases it's value (compared to a plain old HD200).

I just noticed, SHS has an HD100, HD200, and HD250 all for sale right now on eBay. Perhaps he has found a replacement for SageTV??? Maybe a yet-to-be-released offering from a company that rhymes with bugle?

Bummer. About your car, and about my fantasy that fantastic new hardware/software would be available soon (sound of balloon deflating). Best of luck getting the car going again.

Well SHS can you tell us more about the HD250.

Like how did you get hold of it? Why it was never released? And why haven't google/sage stopped you from selling it? Because I'm sure if I had put a link to my eBay stuff it would of been blocked by now. Lol

I'm the fortunate winner of this extender. It will be a few days before I receive it, but I'm wondering if anybody knows if it supports HD Audio. I noticed in the pictures that it had a version 1.3 HDMI port, which technically should support HD audio.

I sold one of my HD300's sooner than I should have, and bought this to replace it.
