Can I clear "videothumb" cache?

I have nearly 3gb of data in the following location:

C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\userdata\Phoenix\cache\videothumb

Can I clear this cache? Is there a setting to manage this location so that it doesn't get so large or can I move it to a different drive?

I'm running SageTV on Windows Home Server v1 and my 20gb system drive is full...

Thanks in advance!

You can safely remove any cache dir... but doing do will mean that you'll have to either rebuild it, or have a sluggish experience while using fanart.

Is this cache managed somehow?

In other words, does it remove unecessary files once they are no longer needed?

From a quick glance it looks like there are piles and piles of small jpg snapshots in this cache - many of which are from shows I've deleted.

Thanks!

it is not managed by the application. You would need to manually delete and rebuild it.

If you did delete the cache does it rebuild on its own or is there an area to manualy rebuild? And does that hold true to the whole cache directory or just the videothumb directory. My cache directory is just over 14gigs and like uberpixel a lot of them are from already deleted shows.

the cache area contains different caching artifacts such as fanart, bmt web ui stuff, metadata lookup stuff, etc. If you delete the cache, then it will recreate itself over time as needed. Or, specifically for fanart, you can go into Phoenix and tell it to rebuilt its fanart cache, especially if you notice that the views are fairly sluggish after you remove the cache.

I deleted the videothumb cache and cleared a ton of disk space.

As noted, the cache rebuilds as necessary. It's back up to 652 mb after two months...

Windows keeps multiple time-stamps for files (created, modified, and accessed). You can right-click a file in windows and choose "properties" to see these time stamps.
I wonder if the "last accessed" time stamp gets updated when Sage access these cached items? If so, it should be possible to write a script that deletes items in this folder that haven't been accessed in a while (perhaps 90 days).
