USB-UIRT IR codes
Hi all. I havent been around in a long time. I have been using sage tv version 6.6.2.218 and have been useing usb-uirt to change chanels on FIOS STB. Switching TV service to Time Warner. Was told I will get a Cisco 4642HDC
STB. Its been so long I dont remember even were the IR code goes or how I tell the USB-UIRT what IR code to use. Looking for an IR code that will work with Cisco 4642HDC. Or i have to teach the usb-uirt the ir signals from the time warner remote. I use the USB-uirt to both receive signals from the Hauppauge 45 buttom remote control and then the USB-UIRT sends signal to STB to change channel. Iam so lost now as it been 2 years since I messed with this I cant remember anything. So anyone have any IR code that will control Cisco 4642HDC from Time Warner? Plus were do I put this IR code on the hard drive and how do I tell the USB-UiRT to use this new IR code? If I cant find anyone with an IR-code for my stb I also plan on emailing the USB-UIRT guy to see if he has an IR code. If no code can be found, were in the setup menu do I teach the usb-uirt the signals from new time warner remote. I kinda of remember what to do. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. I also noticed Sage was bought by Google. Is that going to end up screwing us as large corp buys small one users usually suffer. I was thinking about uprading software but i see I cant do that now. |

In the source setup, theres an option for the controller. In there, you can teach Sage each button-press (remember to hold the remote about an inch from the USB-UIRT when learning).

Ok I found it thanks.
On the STB from FIOS iam on now it does a zero before it puts in any channel numbers which has worked great for 2 years now. Iam wondering how i get the new IR code to do this zero thing on the new STB I will get when i get switched over to Time Warners Cisco 4642HDC STB. So if I teach the IR codes for 0 to 9 how do i get the usb-uirt IR code to do a zero before it sends actual channel numbers to STB that I will be getting shortly from Time Warner. Below is the IR code iam using now with FIOS STB which i converted to a text file. Maybe someone who knows about IR codes can see what was done to make this IR code for the FIOS STB which is going to be replaced with new STB from Time Waner. This way when I get new STB tnhe usb-uirt will also do the zero before channel numbers which makes usb-uirt 100 percent realiable. When you go into the config, there are a few relatively self explanatory settings for this. First, is the number of digits setting. This sets the minimum number of digits sage will send to the stb. So, if set for 3, and it needs to tune to channel 7, it will send 0 0 7. There are also settings for Prefix and Suffix codes. So, ultimately, what will happen is it sends prefix, digits, suffix. There are delay settings for the gaps between digits, and between prefix, digit group, and suffix.

OK i see the number of digits. Right now its set to three. Which is interesting since the USB-UIRT now sends 4 Example if its tuning in CNN its cchannel 600 but the USB-UIRT sends 0600 and that works great. The STB i have now sees the zero but iam guessing here since there are no channel that start with a zero it puts the zero up but when it gets the other three numbers the 600 it tunes into 600. When i was on Dish network the IR code I used didnt send the zero before the channle number and it would get the wrong channel maybe once or twice a week.
But when i went to FIOS and got this new IR code off these forums with the zero first it worls perfectly for 2 years. I will try setting it too fours numbers when I get the new STB and teach USB-UIRT the new channel numbers. Hopefuly that will cause it to send the zero first as that seems the best way to mak changing any STB via USB-UIRT work perfectly. One other question If after getting new TV service with new STB can i use the same IR code iam useing now with the old STB but teach USB-UIRT the new ir codes for the channel numbers for the new STB, that way maybe what ever is in the IR code iam using now with the FIOS STB will also continue to send zero before actual channel number to the new Time Warner STB? Not sure when teaching IR codes for new STB I can use old IR code as a starting point. Last edited by dc9mm; 02-14-2012 at 12:32 PM. |

The IR code you posted is set to always send a 0 before the channel, then send a 3 digit channel number, then send an OK.

Modify IR code?
Ok the IR code itself is set to send the zero before hand. How can you tell that by looking at the IR code. If I know how to modify the IR code myself then I can make any new IR code for new STB do the same thing and that would be great. I wont be getting new TV service with new STB until March 2 so iam trying to get this all set so when i get new service i can get SageTV up and running right away not missing any shows to record. I really appreciate all the help you have be giving me.
I need to buy you a beer. |

That info is in the top line of the file. That line includes the name, the inter-digit delays, the pre-code and post-code, etc.

The name is what will show in Sage when you go to choose your device.
