H23 HD-PVR Problem

I have two H23 DirecTv receivers connected to HD-PVRs. For some reason they are now going to the floating DirecTv logo screensaver after being inactive. I have been using these same receivers for about 3 1/2 years and although this is not the first time I have seen the screen savers it is the first time I have not been able to fix the problem by rebooting the receivers. I have rebooted them several times and left them off for about 20 minutes and rebooted my Sage server they are connected to also. I tried the reset button also, but nothing is working. I still get the screen savers instead of the program. Anyone know how to fix this?

P.S. I am using the Paterson device for serial tuning of the DirecTv receivers.

I think I have seen this when I have lost signal strength or channel was no longer available.
Can you change the channel manually at the box and get programming? I think there is a screen saver setting in the dtv box as well. Perhaps go through the boxes programming and see what you see. I use a small tv connected to composite video when I mess with the dtv box setup.
Also for that box I use Ethernet http tuning. I believe that dll sends a reset to the box before each channel change. Who knows,, dtv may have changed something that causes it to sleep if it does not receive channel changed through specific means. Perhaps I don't have the the issue due to the box being on Ethernet and communicating to dtv. I also have directv tuning in sage setup to fast.

If I change channels manually then the screen saver goes away. I think something has changed maybe with DirecTv, but if it has then other people should be having the same problem also. I tried to contact Paterson technology a few minutes ago, but I just get an error message when I try to send an email to them.

Try Ethernet tuning, there is a dll and setup instructions in this forum. Can't hurt.

I have an H21 and an H23 tuner (new, they just replaced my H20 when it died because of their guide update which it should not have gotten). I noticed that sometimes when I tried to record something off the H21 with my HD PVR, recording would fail, but the reason was because I had the H21 hooked up to my tv directly with the HDMI and the tv was not tuned to that input. If I had the tv on that input the recording started, but when I take the tv off that input I got an error message and lost recording.

So, I tried hooking the HD PVR up to my H23, which I thought was hooked up at the same settings as my H21, but no recordings would start, even in the TME program. Hooked up an HDMI cable to the tv and no difference. I did not try changing the default resolution, maybe that would work.

Anyway, I'm wondering if Directv updated their HDCP policy, and maybe locked down the H23 component output? I since put my HD PVR back to the H21 and took the HDMI off that and put it on the H23. Now the H23 constantly gives me a message when I record in SD with my HVR1600 that no HD cables are connected (when my tv is not tuned to the HDMI). The message is a few seconds long so its just a hassle now. I locked my output resolution at 1080i, so maybe I need to switch that one to variable to avoid that message. I always lock down resolution otherwise it could mess up my HD PVR.

Anyway, curious if others are having any luck getting the H23 working with the HD PVR and if so what settings have you put into the H23?

I use 2 H23s with my 2 HD PVRs. No issues. Make sure that in the output resolutions allowed you do not allow 1080p. Don't think this should cause problems unless you also have HDMI cable attached and the receiver is outputing 1080p for your HDMI connection. Not absolutely sure on this though.
