Just wondered if you were able to get it to play back on the clients without converting. I was just hoping there was a way to play them back on the pc clients in the video_ts folder structure. Looks like there isn't.

ah i see what you are asking.

So i converted to mkv uncompress full resolution prior to anything plex.

There is the ability to direct play files when using pc clients. So the answer to your question is yes according to plex and the forums/support the direct play features will play files off of the network bit for bit.

It won't play from video_ts folders though. My blu-rays play back perfectly, but dvd's don't do anything. Which is odd considering dvd playback from a disc is supported.

Any suggestions for automating the process of creating mkv's from my video_ts folders? I haven't found one that would work.

No unfortunately. I had to do everything via MakeMKV.

im pretty sure handbrake has the ability for you to queue up a bunch of jobs though...still very manual to setup all the folders you want to encode.

That's what I figured. I guess it would make things easier in the long run. Man this is going to take a long time...

I haven't been a real programmer in a very long time, but could you write a script or batch file to do this? Maybe read in a DVD title from a text file, prompt the user to load the disk, then create the directory for it, call handbrake (or whatever) to process it, and then move on?

I've never ripped a DVD in my life so I don't really know what is involved, but doing 600 sounds really, really tedious.

Got this installed, and after a IP Address typo was fixed, it started working. However, it only imported some of my recordings. I have directories on E, F, G and H drives, and I see an error occured while scanning F. I don't think anything was imported from G or H. Here's an excerpt from the log:
Code:

Are you sure they are ripped correctly and Plex is configured properly? When I ran and tested Plex my PC played all my DVD rips. Full and just the Main Movie. I used DVDFab. The same cannot be said for the some of the other Plex clients like Android. Streaming DVDs are not supported.

Maybe I have it configured incorrectly? My rips work fine in everything else so it must be some configuration issue. What should I be looking for?

EDIT: I just realized that I may have made a rookie mistake. I don't have UNC paths as my media folders. I bet that's the issue.

For everyone still following this thread, We are close to a 2nd release. The next release will include:

SageTV Movie Scanner
SageTV BMT Movie Agent.

This allows you to setup a movies object in Plex which will scan your sage recordings directories and pull in ONLY the recorded movies that are identified as such in BMT.

We are working on 1 minor issue with the agent and show year, but will release as soon as its fixed....shortly...we hope :-)

after this release, I will be refocusing on supporting those with issues, i think I have only seen 2, and the other items on my list like syncing watched status back to sage, etc.

* We are testing out a few things, but for better support and easier code maint. We may be dropping the SageTV BMT Movies Agent. We are running some tests which utilizes the built in, very robust, plex movie metadata agents...everythign seems to be working nicely.

Hot dang! Syncronicity!

Then I can leave Sage do it's thing as a backend and not have to worry about manually doing it..

Only issues that I had when installing was that I initially forgot to change the SAGEX to point to my server instead of yours.

Other than that, it seems to work great!

Its all working for me except for when I delete a show in replay -- it stays in Plex. I have Plex set to scan folder for changes and I tried update hourly and instead of removing the reference to the show/episode that is no longer there it just puts a yellow triangle exclamation point on it. Some metadata was also messed up, but only for some obscure Reality TV shows that my wife watches. The other thing I thought was weird was the tagging of some of the files as "specials" within the episodes directories. So while its accurate for the most part its not completely representing exactly what is in Sage and BMT. I thought that whatever was represented in BMT is what would show up in Plex -- should I remove my Recorded Shows in plex and try a re-scan? I just went and verified that the section is set to SageTV Scanner and BMT Agent.
