problem with my pvr-350 and Roslyn

I just got my new Roslyn card from this site. I installed it and thought everything worked great I got video and sound quality looks great. The only problem I have is that my Hauppauge remote no longer works.
every time I hit the restart IR I get an error [Failed to initialize Infrared Remote Hardware ] I tried removing the both cards and installing the pvr-350 last and still no good any ideas??????

I would first check the Roslyn card driver update post .
If that does not correct the problem you could try what I did to get the remote working for my 250/350 card combo after installing new drivers. Hauppauge Beta Drivers for IVAC15/16 Combination .

If you are trying the method I used, just go to post #28 and get the attachment. It contains 2 files, check to see if you already have one or not. I was missing only hcwi2c32.dll file. Once I copied that and installed the IR remote application everything worked fine.

Note: I have no idea if these files work properly with the Roslyn card, but any missing files only seem to be need by the remote.

Was the Roslyn card in a lower numbered slot than the 350? I find that the remote software tries to use use the first card it finds. You may just have to swap the cards.

yes, that sounds like slot 1. You can determine the slot number by going into the device manager and double click on the device. The location should show something like PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 1, device 2, function 0).

This be look in to samson your not alone there are other with same problem as you for now you need wait in tell fix come along sorry.
Give this a shot try using misc\utility\pnpScan.exe version 1.4.21050 or later (from one of the CDs) and uncheck everything but the PVR-250 and then try restarting IR and see if that helps.
You could also try adding /IROB to the end of the command line in the shortcut used to restart IR.

Well that is probably the only slot you really need to leave open
it shares the same IRQ most of the time as your AGP card

you can run system information and check
if they are you should probably move them down

also try to leave a slot between them if possible
the pvr 350 especially runs hot

My 350 seems to work fine in slot 1 and I only had the rt next to each other to test them.

shs I tried your suggestions no good I guess I will have to wait I wish I new about this before I spent the money.Im glad you looked over here your site was the next place I was going to post..

I suggest people wait to buy a roslyn card untill this issue is resolved it makes it a little hard to use sage without a remote

Switching the slots for the cards should solve the problem.

I wonder if the problem may be along the same lines as the one in which the 350 is installed and then you add a 250 and the video out options are gone in SageTV. Because the 250 doesn't have video out and it was the last card installed the vid out options become disabled. Since the Roslyn has no IR hardware the IR software stops working because that is the card the IR software is attempting to connect to. You may want to pull both cards then install first the Roslyn card. After the Roslyn card is installed and working add the 350 card and see if the IR starts working again.

Quick question

If I found a usb ir could I use girder
to control sage because it looks like the conflict is with the hauppaugeremote.dll so
if I do not use the hauppauge remote and the ir input on the 350 I should be in business..

If I am correct does anyone have any suggestions for a good usb ir that works great with girder and sage?

buy a USB UIRT
then you can you use any remote you want with sage
it is not much more than buying a pc remote if you look around and has much more to offer

good pc remotes

firefly
remote wonder 1 or 2
X10 remotes
StreamZap
windows Media Center Remote from phillips
and there are more pricey remotes over a 100 dollars

none will be as nice as having a USB UIRT
where you will have an ir blaster in case you get digital cable or satellite
and using anyremote will be nice

I use directtv with a low speed serial cable
so I do not need an ir blaster correct I might look for another solution because girder is $20 usb uirt http://www.usbuirt.com/order.htm
$50 and then I still must buy a remote ?

seems to be adding up quick.
