STV: MlbDude2 1.8.7 - July 5

mightyt: what kny3twalker referred to as "Upcoming Movies" is something from malore's STV (and in MalDude, though malore's is further along now), where it will display the upcoming movies for the channels you have set to be movie channels. The custom menus also have 3 guides that you can customize to filter/group/sort nearly any way you want so it is easy to browse the EPG in different ways.

Note that I'm not knocking mlbdude for not having those things... just commenting on the variety of what's available.

It seems you are able set more granular preferences.

I was checking out the guides (ala malore) a bit on my nielm client. It seems pretty cool, but I have to foll around with it more to fully understand it ...

I've heard it mentioned that .ogg music files will play back in Sage through the video library.

If they'll play back does anyone know if using the MlbDude2's folder based music library will work then with .ogg? Will the files show up in Music instead of video? Has anyone tried it?

I have MlbDude2 on my server and Weather is AOK ... I have Nielm 1.2 over MlbDude2 on my Client and Weather hangs up, though WRS works fine. Mine may be a Nielm thing or a conflict since my properties file had Mlbdude2 Weather settings still present. Anyway, that's for the Nielm thread.

I have a few bugs to report.

One: when scrolling through the sage recordings screen, while in DVD mode, once you reach the top or bottom of the screen, the "up/channel up", or "down/channel down" command will go to the next or previous chapter of the dvd respectively.

Two: Sometimes when pressing the TV command, right after pressing the guide button, will make the screen look like it's in guide mode but bring up the overlay for normal viewing with the timebar etc. After the five second autohide, video comes back into full view. I have not been able to pin the exact sequence down as it seems to be random. Sometimes I have made this happen by scrolling around in the guide, then hitting the TV button.

Ok,

Just downloaded mlbdude's stv, I think I got the 1.8.7 version because that's what it says on the zip folder.

Well my problem is, Im not sure if I have the most current update for one thing, also Im not sure where to find the current update, and when updates come in the future, where to get them?

Secondly I want the skin that mlb posts on the first page of this thread (the one that is light blue background, lime green highlight bar), Im not sure what lines to edit to get them, in the sage.properties file...if anyone could help me out that would be great.

My third problem is, I can't get the tv preview box (small tv box in upper corner) to receive any picture...I get sound and a black screen. I would like it to show up on the main menu, and in the tv guide. I have it set up to play...but no dice?

NEED HELP!

Ok this is an update from my previous post.

After tinkering around some more I finally got mlbdude's stv installed, and was able to change it to a skiin that I wanted.

My only problem so far with this is, that I can't get my preview screen (little tv in the upper right corner of screen) to recieve any picture...I was working perfectly before I installed this stv...its just black screen, with sound only. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!


My setting are as follows:

InterVideo mpeg2 video decoder filter
3D acceleration - disabled
overlay color keying - disabled
use enhanced osd - enabled

please help people!

Make sure you aren't using the "Default" video renderer, IIRC, for some reason that doesn't work.

I didn't bother to read the whole thread. Hope this has not been reported already.

The problem occurs when a show appears in two different categories. If i select the show in the second category. the focus shifts to the first category that show was in. As a result, the remaining shows in the second category cannot be selected.

It'll be easier to explain with an example.
The first screen shows category Action and the second shows category Adventure.
Note that Nash Bridges appears in both categories.
The first screen has no problems.
Now, if i go to category Adventure (second screen) and select Nash Bridges, immediately the focus shifts to the category Action.
As a result, i cannot select any show in the Adventure category that appears below Nash Bridges.

Although this can be bypassed when using a mouse (by directly selecting the show), the problem cannot be bypassed when using a remote.

mlbdude do you plan to fix the problems or bugs still left in your STV?
your seems to be the one with the least amount of holes or bugs
and I would rather use it than switch back to the original
well as long as you intend to fix some of the bugs.........
(not saying you have to, cause this is studio and whatever you do, you do out of your own time and so on; but really would like to know if this STV is DEAD?)

All core multi-table bugs are fixed with the next release of SageTV - though I will have to back those changes into this STV. I have not decided if I will continue this STV or not. Once the release is out you should be able to figure out why .

MlbDude2 (1.8.7)

A few issues running Sage TV Server and Client with MlbDude2 (1.8.7) First I would like to say that Sage should hire MlbDude. Excellent job, but...

1. Weather hangs on "Loading" (can we choose where the weather data comes from?)

2. On the Sage Server the "windowed" video is black, but sound does work

3. The back option (remote, esc, but the upper left hand corner works fine) only seems to loop around. Does not go back like Orignal STV

4. Scrolling up and down LiveTV Guide either with mouse or remote does not change the channel in video window. Pressing enter or "OK" on remote goes to Program Info window. The scrolling of channels with out changing the video windows is fine, but it would be nice to just click once to change the video window to the channel selected and a second time for program info and a third to watch. Even better would be an additional option to jump past the program info window straight the watching the selected channel. This seems to only happen on Sage Server.

change your video render in sageTV that will make the video window work(only overlay and vmr9 work)

In my Recordings section, if there are more than 5 different shows, then the list on the left becomes large. As soon as I delete a show and bring the number down to 5, the list shows normally and all the show spacings become small.

hmm... Does that make any sense?

A friend pointed this out so I know exactly what you are talking about. Here is a question though, which way do you like it better?
