Rob, be sure that you quote the program name in the cmd file. That bit me.

Here are how the properties are setup:

external_media_player=C\:\\Program Files\\Frey Technologies\\SageTV\\TT.cmd
external_media_player_params=

Here is the .cmd file:

"c:\Program Files\TheaterTek\TheaterTek DVD.exe" /RES 1920 1080 /PATH %1

When a dvd is selected from the video library, TT opens, the resolution changes and then nothing happens.

When the .cmd file is executed from a DOS prompt (i.e. tt.cmd "m:\thehulk\VIDEO_TS") TT opens, the resolution changes and then the movie starts.

When the .cmd file is executed from a DOS prompt but without the parm, I get the same results as when I select the movie from the video library.

I'm not sure why, but when the movie is selected from the video library, the parameter is not getting to my .cmd file.

Could it be a bug or am I missing something.

Help!?!

Doh! I was missing the 2nd argument--the output file. I thought it would default to STDOUT.

Talking Thank you!

MLBDUDE2, Thanks so much for creating this improved skin. Usability is excellent. It simplifies and enhances an already good UI making it great. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Rob

mlbdude,

This skin is great! I'm having one problem, perhaps you know a way around it...

external_dvd_player works great - i point it at a batch file with my parameters and it works like a charm.

external_media_player ALMOST works. I point it at a similar batch file, but with /PATH %1 to play the ripped file. Unfortunately, there is a space in the path when it gets to my batch file.... e.g.

" e:\dvds\21 grams\VIDEO_TS"

instead of:

"e:\dvds\21 grams\VIDEO_TS"

which TT doesn't like... is this somthing i did? Any ideas?

TIA,
Jeff

PS - keep up the great work!

I found the problem for this in the STV. It will be fixed for next release.

I love this skin, and the .my file support is great.

but i only can get it to work for files i have actually stored on my pc ie the avi/mpeg files. I would love for it to also work for my dvds so that i can select dvd's based on the covers and descriptions and then it asks me to insert the correct dvd

how i imagin it working is that you scroll throu the video libraby and select a video, if the file is available locally it plays it if not it askes you to insert the dvd

it would be great if it could tell once it had got the correct dvd but that would probably create more issues than it solves

obviously it would be important that it stilled alloued for the external players etc

sorry if i have missed that fact that it already does this or a thread where someone else mentioned it just something i though would be good

ok I got an end of file bug today

I have never had one before

I did install dscaler beta last week but it was not being used and is gone now

I really do not like how you(mlbdude) made it to where the files do not close after playing
I can hit left for some reason and get liveTV after watching a recorded show and I normally cannot do that (I go back to the main menu)

this leads me to believe that the files are not completely closed
I did not get this behavior before all the pvr 350 fixes and believe it is related

I really would like an option to turn off all pvr 350 fixes
and I do understand why I got the lock up(I had to should down sageTV via the task manager and it would not minimize) or the liveTV issue after watching a recorded show

I never added any PVR fixes. Just the option to auto close the file when it hits the end. Default Frey behavior was to leave it open and send you back somewhere. I hated that since I added the preview window to the Main Menu you would have it stay up on the last frame.

The auto close behavior is configurable though for those that have decoder issues. Look under the mlbdude properties for something like auto_close.

ok I thought there was a property but was not sure
and also wanted to post that I got the strange end of file lock up
maybe you can make this default for the next release
any time frame?

EDIT:
ok I checked and these properties were set to true
and yet I can still get the behavior where I hit the left button after watching a recorded show and it brings me into liveTV

mlbdude/auto_close_at_eof=true
mlbdude/auto_close_osd_options=true

That is bad . I will try and duplicate. If I can I will fix it. The first property was the one we are talking about.

Mlbdude, great job on the skin. It does almost everything I want. Is there any chance you could add keyword favorites like laurenglenn has added? That is one feature that many ex-Tivo users have been longing for. Again, great job!

I had that in a build a long time ago, but decided against it because it is too hacky for me. This is a feature that needs to be added to the core. It is a feature I want too though.

Preview Screen

Mlbdude,

Have to say that you're doing wonders with sage and its much appreciated. forgive me if this issue has already been posted but after going through 15 pages of this thread, I thought it would be easier to ask.

I tried out the three video rendering options I had.

Default: Works the best in terms of video. Sports (or shows that have a lot of camera panning) look fine. The info boxes and mini-guide have blue background boxes - which i kind of want. The only problem is the preview screen doesn't ever work

VMR9 & Overlay: The preview screens work now, which is nice (and why I wrote this to begin with). However, info boxes and mini guide have no background and appear against the show i'm watching. While this looks kind of slick, it's sometimes hard to read and I'd at least like to be abel to select an option where I can change this. The real problem is that the video is really choppy. When there is a fast pan of a camera in a show, its like someone is shaking the camera.

Also, when I push stop in Overlay, it resizes my screen (not resolution) so that its really really small and I have to manually go into Windows and 'expand' it every time.

I'm not sure what can be fixed and what is inherent to my hardware so just posting everything. Any help (from anybody) would be appreciated. Also, make note that I am a newbie .

Also, I'm using a Hauppauge PVR250.

Thanks.

Some of that is not controllable in my STV, but some is.

Now that you mention it, Default renderer probably would not work well with the preview window . You must be the first to try it.

If you want to use Overlay, make sure the setting Overlay color Keying is not enabled in Advanced Setup. When you disable this all OSD boxes will be opaque and sit on top of the video.

If you want to use VMR9, make sure you also have 3D Acceleration enabled to get the transparency. Setting it to VMR9 with 3D Acceleration off forces Sage into Overlay mode.

If possible I would go with VMR9 and 3D Acceleration on.

Let us know how it works .

I switched to the VMR9 with 3D Acceleration on. This definitely solves all the issues i brought up. The preview works fine, the transparent info boxes and mini guides are exactly what I wanted.

It might be that i'm seeing things but it feels like there are the tiniest glitches during playback (once every minute or so) like a little hicup or awkward refresh but nothing that looks so bad.

Thanks for your help.

You are not seeing things . Do a quick search for VMR9 and you will see a bunch of posts on it. You pretty much need a beefy video card and be running at a low resolution.

Clicking on Timeline

Has anyone else experienced difficulty with the latest MLBDUDE2 customization in clicking on the timeline while watching a program?

Also, it would be great to put back the current position marker that shows where in the timeframe the program is currently playing.

Cheers,
Rob

I'd like to have the option of having my Music Library shown in List view instead of Folder view....kinda like the Video Library option. Thanks, and great job!
