SHS,

Just curious, did you get it to play smoothly, without dropped frames? If so, are you running an AMD or Intel system? Just has me curious what your setup is if you got smooth playback with half the clockspeed I have.

As for my decision regarding WinDVD 6 and DNM...

Well, I've spent some more time with it and I've given up on it. Partially because of the performance issues, but mainly because I've decided I just don't like the effect.

Watched Saving Private Ryan tonight, firstly only made it about 10-20 minutes in (about half way into the opening battle) before the PC rebooted (perhaps the PC isn't 100% Stable at 3.0), but long before then I realize that DNM just took away the realism of the movie, it made it look fake. It's been a while since I watched it, but never before did it seem artificial. DNM made the CG effects stand out like they were carelessly done. I knew before that DNM made it look very different, but when it detracts from the movie, that's the end.

So between the the detrimental effect, poor performance, and the price of WinDVD 6, I'll be sticking with Sonic Cineplayer for now.

yeah mine was close to smooth playback with overlay in winDVD and similair in sage but not as smooth using overlay(higher CPU usage)
VMR9 was super slow in sage
you try that one SHS?

the effect is not worth 70 dollars thoughalong with WINDVD is the most difficult to work with decoder

and without DNM the VMR9 deinterlacing was poor

Yeah, if it were available in a $15 codec pack I'd pick it up, DNM would be a great thing to impress people with, but overall I don't think I like the effect.

If you buy WinDVD 6, use this link:

http://www.intervideo.com/interactua...ial_Offer.html

You will save $10 off the Gold version or get the interactual add-on free with the platinum version. If you buy the platinum version and get the interactual add-on, you'd have the fully optioned-out version of WinDVD for $69.95. The last platinum version was that price also, but didn't come with audio booster pack, which have brought the price up to $100.

When the last version of WinDVD came out, the new version of PowerDVD came out within a few weeks. I noticed on the Cyberlink site that they had discounted PowerDVD through June 30. Now that discount is off. I'm expecting a new PowerDVD version really soon, maybe tomorrow. The discounting is also what they did last time just before they released the new version. I haven't heard any news about a new version, just going by what happened last time. I'm waiting for a few days before I buy WinDVD to see what the new PowerDVD will be like.
