Only some channels have EPG data
My provider recently changed to digital. As result I upgraded to a Hauppauge HVR-2250. I went through the channel setup and scan and it found all the new digital channels.
The problem is the EPG only shows data for a small number of those channels, mostly on the low end of the range but not even all of those. Once into the higher channel numbers there's almost no data. For instance, 33.2 (CBUT) and 34.2 (HSN) have data but then there's nothing until 61.1 (WGNHD), yet the channel scan picked up all those channels in between. I've done all the tricks I found to force an update, including completely removing the 2250 video source, re-installing it and doing a fresh channel scan. How do I fix this? I'm missing most of my favorites as a result. Btw, I did reset the favorites to use the digital channels. |

You need to remap the channels to exactly what they are in the Zap2It guide.

I went to Zapit's site and pulled up the guide for my provider. That shows none of the ".x" channels, just whole numbers. So I can go through and remap say 78.1 to 78 but that leaves me with two questions.
1. What about channels where only the decimal is different, like 34.1 and 34.2? Map one to 34 and the other to some unused channel? That could get confusing very quickly. 2. Why'd it pick up some of the channels, like 33.2, but not others? |

Please refer to the remapping info at the bottom of p. 171 in the SageTV PDF manual.

OMG, it's come to this. After telling so many users, over so many years, to RTFM I find myself hoisted by my own petard
Thanks, I looked at the manual and found I had a completely incorrect understanding of remapping, based on my own baseless assumptions. I'll work through the remapping process and hopefully that will clear up the problem. |

I'm working my way through the remapping process. It's very time consuming, there are dozens of channels and what to map to isn't always obvious.
My question now is, once I've finished this is there a way to save the info so that I don't have to redo it if I have to re-install someday? |

If you're using Sage 7, there's the "Import/Export Channel Lineup" plugin that I've used quite a bit. It works well, and even allows you to edit the channel lineup outside of Sage and import it back in.

Can you point me to the specific plugin? I did a search under V7 customizations but didn't see anything that obviously fit that description.

At the Sage 7 main menu, choose "Setup", then "SageTV Plugins", then "All Available Plugins", then click either the "UI Mod" or "All" button at the top of the screen. Scroll down the alphabetized list of plugins until you find the "Import/Export Channel Lineup" plugin. See attached screenprint.

Thanks, found it!
I was searching the forum for something I'd have to download. I didn't know all those were already available through the interface. After I get the channel thing sorted out I'll have to go exploring Thanks again! |

I'm just now getting back to this. I had remapped some channels and thought I understood what needed to be done.
My recordings however are not picking up the channels I expected or failing completely. I am now thoroughly and completely confused. Here's one example of what's happening. If someone can explain this one then I can probably apply that to the others. My cable provider is "Click!Network Tacoma Power" (zip 98407). I have extended basic, up to channel 83, none of the higher channels. For the example below the Sagetv program guide shows CH# 13-2 and the correct program info, specifically "Terra Nova" is the show I'm recording as a Favorite. In system messages I see many occurrences of this error: "Halt detected in recording. The device input 'Hauppauge..........' stopped producing data while recording "Terra Nova" on KCPQ on physical channel 25-13-2. sagetv will try to reset the device. This may be caused by a channel that is no longer available." Channel: Fox KCPQ Zap2it Ch #: 13 FRQ File: CH:13 major:19 minor:2 prog:19 phy:23 frq:217250000 mod:11 inv:0 #:KUNS-DT CH:21 major:13 minor:1 prog:513 phy:25 frq:229250000 mod:11 inv:0 #:KCPQ CH:23 major:13 minor:2 prog:174 phy:25 frq:229250000 mod:11 inv:0 #:KCPQ-SD CH:150 major:13 minor:2 prog:13 phy:98 frq:109250000 mod:11 inv:0 #:KCPQ Export file from "Import/Export" plugin: ch:13 station:TBSC_CL epg:13 logical:32-2 physical:29-32-2 ch:142 station:KCPQ2 epg:111 logical:13-2 physical:98-13-2 ch:313 station:KCPQ epg:10387 logical:13-2 physical:25-13-2 The final kicker is that in the Sagetv Channel setup, with the sort on Channel Number and "List Enabled Channels First" unchecked, there is no channel 13, just 13-2 listed twice, with different info on each. In case they are needed I'm attaching the entire FRQ and .export files. |
