Make all channels available

Edit:This thread was split from the official SageTV Feature Request Thread. So there will be some redundancy between this thread and broderp's other thread on the issue. I would have merged them but this would have caused more confusion.IMO

Currently, if a channel isn't part of the downloaded EPG information, SAGE 2.0 will not let you tune to it.

Example, UPN channel 44 (I watch Enterprise, and record it) switched TODAY to channel 17. Channel 17 was not part of the lineup. NOTHING on it until today. So of course the EPG does not have that channel.

It also will not allow me tune it manually.....WHY NOT???

Please change this if possible.

set up a new source and say no guide data with this source and simply add the channels you want or choose a provider that has that channel listed does not matter what the channel name is
only setup this channel no other for the source

and then tune to the channel
also you will have to do manual recording time based for this channel until zap fixes it data

Doesn't sound very promising as a fix at all! I may as well go back to my VCR!!

This is NO FIX, what about the other channels I use? I bought this program BECAUSE of the EPG and PVR capabilities, to cripple it would be a total waste of my time and money.

There should be a way in setup to "ADD" channels that are not part of the "lineup" just for this type of instance.

EDIT:For context of new people who may read this thread... The one paragraph below and all posts above started out in the OFFICIAL SageTV/SageClient FEATURE REQUEST thread.

Do you even know what thread your in. This is not a support thread. This is for feature requests ONLY you should post this issue elsewhere(like your existing thread) in the SageTV software forum.

EDIT:broderp, I performed a thread split to put your problem and relevant answers in the proper forum. I moved the first post(which is sort of a request) to this thread so other users had all needed info to help you. Feel free to repost a feature request to the request thread. This was not done as any kind of punishment just to put your issue where it should get more help.

sorry about that
I did not mean to put the reply in the feature request and I did note it in the reply I gave but you are both correct
I suppose sage does not support two coxial sources from the same inout
I thought it may (I never had an issue, next I will test my theories)

suppose you could do this only if you had an extra card that you wanted to record only that channel but thats not going to work well either

and I think I caused the problem by replying in there
He was I think asking for sage to tune to channels are have no guide data if they are available

you could trial sagrecorder for a coupple weeks in addition to sageTV until zap fixes the guide data
normally it takes a few days to get this stuff fixed
why not let them know

could you not find any guide datas that were even close that just had your needed channel 17

sorry about your troubles
I thought it might have been a fix

you could add a vcr to the RCA input to get channel 17 then add any guide data that has UPN then set the VCR to UPN then it will be a second source to record from same card you can do that I am
and it will use the guide data to record when the how airs
I hope that fix helps out more
if remapping the channels number does not
I just thought that would not solve the issue or I would have mentioned remapping them
