Usbuirt and multiple zones

Has anyone tried setting up sage 7 with usbuirt for multiple zones and should it still work? I have it setup per instructions created quite a while ago and am having problems getting it to work.

It work frist you need make one receiver work which IR name something like HR2400 or what name you used for that receiver when you set it up.
Close SageTV after it working with that one receiver
Under SageTV\Common\RemoteCodes\USB-UIRT Transceiver\

Rename HR2400.ir to HR2400Z1.ir
Make copy of HR2400Z1.ir Rename to HR2400Z2.ir

Now you need to edit each one like mine below
This what look like with out any Zone Control
HR2400 0 0 3 600 800
0 0000 006B 000A 000A 00E7 002E 002E 002F 0017 0018 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 002F 002E 0018 0017 0483 0073 002F 002E 002F 0017 0018 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 002F 002E 0018 0017 0483

HR2400Z1.ir for Zone 1
HR2400Z1 0 0 3 600 800
0 Z10000 006B 000A 000A 00E7 002E 002E 002F 0017 0018 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 002F 002E 0018 0017 0483 0073 002F 002E 002F 0017 0018 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 002F 002E 0018 0017 0483

HR2400Z2.ir for Zone 2
HR2400Z2 0 0 3 600 800
0 Z20000 006B 000A 000A 00E7 002E 002E 002F 0017 0018 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 002F 002E 0018 0017 0483 0073 002F 002E 002F 0017 0018 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 0018 0017 002F 0017 002F 002E 0018 0017 0483

Rerun SageTV get in Setup | Setup Video Source | click on the tuner you add change the Tuner Control to make Zone 1 IR file

You did get 2 IR eye one for each receiver and one 1/8" mono-to-stereo audio Y-adapter, which look like this at your local radioshack.

I bought the adapter from radio shack and 2 high power emitters with the part numbers mentioned on the old post on how to do this. I couldn't get anything coimng out with the radio shack stereo to mono adapter so I used a stereo wire and wired the ground to the sleve and the yellow to the tip on one led and the red to the tip on the other. now the led's work but the one thing I didn't do is append the Z1 to the filename. Otherwise I did everything else right including appending the Z1, Z2 to the beginning of each command in the file. I will give this a try. hopefully it will work because I have been messing with this for a week on and off. It would change channels with my remote but not if I set it to record. Thanks

The file name is irrelevant. Jon Rhees has a utility called lrnhelper that is very helpful in troubleshooting. Find that utility and use that to test your commands.

I have the lrnhelper how can I use that to troubleshoot? Do I need to teach the usbuirt the codes for the remote I am using?

I found one of my ir files was corrupt and copied the 1st ir file to the other 2 and made the Z2 and Z3 changes. I can now record 3 different channels and it works great when setting up 3 different recordings, but for some reason if I go to program guide and pick a show to watch, it doesn't change the channel. Is there a seperate setting for this?

I figured out the problem. I was picking a channel that was set up with a 4th tuner that doesn't have an "eye" to change the channel on my cable box. My local time/warner system is switching to totally digital by oct 19 and I had to get small digital tuner boxes about the size of a pack of cigs for each tuner I have. The large cable box that will also tune hbo etc... has no ir emitter so when I picked a channel that is above 70 the box would not tune to it. All is working great and I want to thank everyone for your help.

Any chance of a link to the old post? Try as I might, can't figure out which post you used?

Thanks,
Skybolt

The radio shack stereo to 2 mono didn't work for me. I used a stereo to 2 stereo splitter wire and rewired it and all works great. These are the links for the wiring diagram.

If you are using multiple zones and need to use rear port for zones 1 and 2 I highly recommend the radio shack ir blasters as they are more powerful. I purchased some wired ir emitters for $10.00 each through another company and they were weak and unreliable.

Thanks rnadeau!
Just what I was looking for. My SD Prime is not so "Prime". Need to use multiple cable boxes because of "CopyOnce".

Thanks,
Skybolt
