Ok, thanks. Any idea how many HD-PVRs you could connect to one molex connector? If I remember correctly the HD-PVR power supplies are rated at 2A.

Now I am hoping that I didn't throw out my old wall warts from the HD-PVR that have died.

One of my old PCs (I think it had an Antec case and PS) had a power supply that had a molex female connector that you could access from the outside of the PC case. More PS' should have that for applications like this.

Or buy one of these from Monoprice.

You could safely connect two on a connector. The wire gauge on the molex is much heftier than the wall wart stuff. You'd want to make sure that your power supply has capacity for whatever load you put on it.
In my case (no pun intended) I have two internal power supplies, one for the bajilloin drives shoved in the enclosure and one for the motherboard and fans.

One of my HD-PVRs was acting up and it appears to have been the PS. This is the second PS that I have used on this HD-PVR - I got the replacement from Hauppauge in Dec of 2011. So I guess the supplies only last about 3 years.

I have still had issues with power supplies too - recently purchased several of these and they work well with the HD-PVR's:

Hope this helps!

If I was to get one of the PCE brackets with molex connectors, like the one mentioned in post 22 or this one, what's the best way to then connect that to my HD-PVRs? Cut the barrel connector off one of my dead power bricks and wire it up to the molex connector? What gauge/type of wire should I use?

You could get one of these
http://www.monoprice.com/Product/?c_...seq=1&format=2
from the same supplier and and attach the barrel connector to it. Or just shove the bare barrel wires into the molex and secure it with electrical tape.

I was thinking of soldering it and then using shrink tubing to insulate rather thane electrical tape.

Dwight
Just noticed on bootup that one of my HD-PVR's had "disappeared" from SageTV (It was definitely there earlier this morning).

I went over to check thinking that maybe I hadn't gotten one of the HD-PVRs (I have 2) rebooted fast enough for the computer to see it on bootup.
Hmmmm, that blue power light looks awful dim. I've seen that before. So I power cycle it and sure enough the red light doesn't blink during its POST and the blue power light stays dim.
Another bum power supply for an HD-PVR. And this was a replacement one I ordered from Hauppauge in August of 2012 when the original PS died almost identically.

Luckily I still had one sitting around from when I bought the replacements from Hauppauge. Looks like I'll be following your link and buying another couple replacements. <sigh>

Ok, maybe I'll go to NewEggs U.S. site to do that.
