2 hd300's short
What would you do if you were 2 hd300's short?
1) Spend the $300 on ebay per HD300 2) Buy an HD100 or HD200 for less 3) Try the Boxee extender with Sage For option 3, how difficult is it to get Boxee working? |

I've contributed a bit of code to the project, and I'm really impressed with the guys working on it. I think very soon we'll have something that resembles a very nice "mini sage". So, I'd wait a bit before buying any hardware, but I think this is the direction I'm going to go when it's time to suplement my lone hd100. |

I bought both an HD200 and an HD100 to compliment my (2) HD300s. The HD200 is not really too far a step down from the 300 at all. UI is just about as snappy, I think the only things you don't get are HDMI bit streaming of the lossless formats like Master Audio, the remote isn't learning (all the 300's remotes can learn is power on/off and volume up/down for your TV, otherwise the remotes are identical) and of course the unit is a little bigger and not as pretty. Even the 100's will do most things asked of them, but beware the internal power supply issue (if you get a 100, and the capacitors haven't been replaced, spend the 20 minutes and $2-3 in parts and you'll likely get plenty of life out of it). I put the 100 in the youngest kid's room, as it is roughly the size of a DVD player and seems much closer to 'indestructible' if there were such. It comes down to which functionalities you want/need. LiveTV? DVD? BluRay? |

So what would you do if you had version 5 still working? Will the Boxee work for that when done or am I to "old". I did download all the 7 stuff assuming last ditch that it would upgrade and what not......
I got struck by lightening a couple of months ago, lost 4 of the 6 original MVPs from the strike. I would like to figure out what to do to keep this thing running. Just started upgrading TV's too, even though the old MVP's aren't HD, they still get the job done. As you know to upgrade to HD stuff would require upgrade to SageTV which I am not exactly ready or willing to do since it does the job still that I originally wanted it to do. Ideas? Bob E.
