Thanks Tom,
I ended up downloading Placeshifter for both Linux and Windows and they both are working. I was not notified about a trial on the Windows side so hopefully it will continue to work. My Linux box is not that easy to get to. I will pick up the Boxee this week and cannot wait to see how it works. Thank you all very much for continuing to work on this - dummy like me REALLY appreciate the efforts!

So let me ask this question.
How hard would it be to "simplify" the front end, removing what is no longer relevent such as "Videos"? Since it appears this app will mostly be for TV / Recorded TV, I am wondering is this would make sense? It would for sure give a cleaner front end for the user experience..... Not sure - just tossing this out for opinions! Thanks -

Also, for a family with a mixture of HDx00 and Boxee devices, a fairly consistent user interface is definately nice to have...

Cool - and you have done a wonderful job!
One day - maybe. Like I said, just tossed it out for discussion. I am very anxious to give this a try and might get the Boxee on my way home from work today. Once I have, I will for sure post back. My shares are set on the Linux Server so it should be straight forward. How can I help move this forward? An excellent effort! Oh, and I am bidding on an HD300 on eBay just to get one back - LOL!!! Thanks again -

I've thought about removing the stuff that is not needed as well. I figured I'd wait, as I am very busy right now, and I wasn't sure what the programmers were going to add in.
My thinking is to re-design the front screen and remove video/music/photos/online. I could turn that left side menu into TV recordings specific functions, such as what you normally see as the TV submenu on a true Sage client. I've also thought that we could leave music/videos/photos, and have those jump to the Boxee specific screens. So Music would jump to Boxee's My Music screen, Videos would become Movies, and add a TV Shows menu item (although what to call it to not confuse it with SageTV recordings). So maybe moving forward (and if it is easy enough), we look at a "special Boxee" front end that would eliminate things that are no longer needed to clean it up... I think if Tom were to make the community aware of this change it would be well received.
I will know if I am watching via HDxxx or Boxee... So will my Wife and kids. Straight forward stuff. Still tossing ideas out there! Thanks -

I like this idea too. I read about some issues with PushState() and PopState() (I think those are the methods) so it may not be easy to return from the Boxee menu back into the Sage app. You'll need to look into that to be sure. This would be a very nice addition.

Yeah getting back I think you'll have to go back to apps/SageTV. I doubt there is a way around that.

Has there been any progress in playing cablecard tuner files on the Boxee?

I haven't had much luck getting it to return directly to the Sage app.

Got everything working. Very nice so far!!!!
Just one question how long does it take to play a file once you select it. For me it takes almost 10 seconds or more to play the file. Im wondering if that is normal or if I need to look at some settings or my network. Thanks, keep up the good work |

FWIW, I don't have Boxee Box hardware, but using the Boxee software + SageTV app, mine takes about 4 seconds to start playing after you press the play button.

jetty browser
I picked up a boxee box.
sage menu is off the screen a bit too. I'm not sure how to correct that. I received an error when selecting a channel: The selected show could not be watched. The recording started but has stalled. -- might have been tuner in use but I went to a tuner I knew was available and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. |

It is pretty slow on my Boxee too, I think from the Boxee Box firmware, not from the app but I haven't looked at it closely lately and I'm not sure if the devs see the same thing or not...

Not working in Boxee on my Mac
All of my Sage TV recordings are from an HD Homerun - I installed Boxee on my Mac to try out this app as I can use another extender - however none of my recorded TV shows work.
I don't know how old the SageTV app in my Boxee is - think I initially set it up a month or so ago. Anyway when I select a recording to watch it says 'launching player' and then just hangs there forever... ideas?? thanks!! Mark |
