And not just integrated but it does it much better than playon via sage could ever hope to {this is not to downplay or slight the amazing efforts of EP et al. that gave us the playon plugin}... For that fact it seemed redundant and unecessary to incorporate that feature into sage..
I searched yesterday quite a bit. I was under the impression that hulu was not available via boxee. If I'm mistaken, please let me know.

(i'm particularly interested in a hulu app for boxee software on a PC)

DOes it have to be Boxee? I have used the Hulu desktop for my PC and it works quite well - I guess the downside is you need to switch from Boxee to this app but you can likely launch external apps from Boxee, can't you? Or some sort of a macro with EventGhost, etc.

There's a 3rd party Boxee app that will do Hulu (free/web version, not Hulu+) for both the software and Box versions of Boxee. Access to the repository is $1/mo (or a $25 one-time fee), first week free, cancel the monthly subscription any time. (I went this route, the developer is really pretty awesome). More info here: http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=31860

You can also access Hulu free via PlayOn, which does UPnP, available directly in Boxee software or Boxee Box (though as I said above, UPnP is wonky in the current firmware release when it comes to PlayOn but the work around for that is to use the Boxee Box browse and go to m.playon.tv )

Boxee is planning to get Hulu+ to the Box but they've been planning to do that for almost a year now. There's no telling when/if it will happen.

Does the Sage Boxee app update automatically? How do I know that I have the latest version?

I am still having trouble playing videos other than SD MPEG2 on my system. I am running win7 x64 using the onboard video for an i5-2500K. I have turned off HW Acceleration in Boxee.

Yes.

I don't think the version number is included in the app but Boxee should always check to make sure there isn't a newer version available and if there is, it automatically downloads it.

However, you could always quit Boxee, go to the apps folder (on the OS) under the UserData folder, and delete the com.googlecode.sagetvboxee.sageboxee folder. Then restart Boxee, start up the SageTV app and that will force a download of whatever version is in the repository currently.

This issue is unrelated to the SageTV app.

So "trouble" is what exactly? What OS? What are the file types exactly?

In Boxee, if you play those videos via Files and navigate your network to the video files, do they play any better?

For better help with this, I highly recommend posting in the Windows Help section of the Boxee Forums instead of here...

Will do - the files play the same in Boxee Files. They start playing and after about 10 seconds start to loop and/or stutter and often times Boxee then crashes.

I will post in the Boxee forums.

I use hulu+ (for now at least). I have no prob using hulu desktop. I don't think my wife or son could navigate it but to be honest they don't care about hulu at all.

Issues with latest build

Hey Guys,

Is there a way to restart the show from the beginning?

When I start a show it starts from where I left off, which is great. But now when someone else finishes watching a show and exits, the bookmark is set for that time, usually at the end of the show. The next person gets on and they need to rewind to the beginning, causing boxee to freeze on us (I think this can't be a sagetv/boxee bug, let me know if you think it might be). Just wondering if there was a way to start from the beginning beforehand.

Thanks!

When you select a recording by pressing enter a dialog appears. From there you should be able to toggle the Watched status. Let me know if that does not do what you want.

One thing that Boxee does that's nice is when you click play on something that's been played before, it will prompt to ask if you want to continue or start over...

I was able to login and update/patch the app with your fix. And I have to say -- your efforts thus far are amazing. For a beta, the way it mimmicks a client/extender is phenomenal. And using this boxee setup I can get to netflix, pandora, my DVD rips, and then jump over to my recorded TV using this sage app -- awesome, simply awesome.*And it runs terrific on my little Dell Zino HD 410.

Thanks. It looks a little better on a Box because there is a bug in the PC software that prevents the channel logo images from appearing.

I finally managed to solve my SMB network issues and now the Sage app is working great on the boxee box. I found the answer on the boxee forums in this post: Tips for network shares with Boxee, it was tip 5 under Windows Vista/7 that was the issue, I'd already enabled everyone access on the shares, but hadn't changed the security on the folders to allow everyone, once I did that everything started working

That worked great, Thank You!

Question, I notice that when I restart I can rewind/fast forward okay, but when I leave the show and then go back into the show Boxee stutters and forward/rewind do not work well. Anyway to find out why it's doing this? I can turn on the logs I guess, but does that show items when the plugin is turned on?

Go to the system settings and look for the setting that turns on the debug line at the top of the screen. When that's enabled you will see real-time information about memory and CPU usage displayed while video is playing. Do whatever you do to cause the stuttering and take a look at the stats. My guess is that the CPU utilization will be very high. Let me know if that's true and we'll look into narrowing down the problem. Also let me know the other stats about memory usage and FPS (frames per second).

Thanks,

Tom

Hey guys,

I had given up on the best solution I had ever built!

But, now I see this option and it looks very cool.

Questions:

1. I have a Linux Server (64 bit) and no longer have any of my extenders... Yes, I sold them on eBay - shame on me... What do I need to do to install the additonal required files (Jetty / SageX)? I run server 64 bit so no GUI to work with. Can anyone give me a command line or two...

2. Do I need to install the GUI? I can load Ubuntu Desktop if needed...

I am not sure if anyone is running Linux so thought I would jump in and ask.

Thanks for any replies!

Do you have any PCs? I don't know if it's possible, but maybe you could install the placeshifter or client trial and use one of them to install the required plugins.

That is an excellent idea - I do have a windows laptop and I also have a MAC that I could work with.

Where can I find one??? I only need a trial version so I can get the plug-ins installed.

Best Buy down the street has Boxee in stock so I could pick one up and start working with / on it...

Any thoughts?

You just need to grab place shifter for Win or Mac. Free to use with the Linux server.
