The iPad app from Boxee is not a "Boxee client" running on iOS. Its a separate app that gives you:

1) Direct access to your personal Boxee feeds (Friends, Watch Later, and Featured)
2) AirPlay to the Boxee Box
3) Stream local content via the Boxee Media Manager to the iPad (ala AirVideo only not as good )

Quick question -- can UNC mapping have an underscore?

My local drive is X:/TV_Recordings1

tried to map as X:,\\192.168.1.x\TV_Recordings1

but no go.

It should work. Did you create a share (on the server) named TV_Recordings1 ?

My X: drive is a shared drive, but not that specific directory. I will try that. Thanks

Best practice-share the directory. Not the drive.

You must share the directory or there will be no way for boxee to access it, no matter what you put in the UNC mappings.

Just my $0.02 worth of advice...

I went and changed my recordings directory in Sage to reflect smb directories...

I was much easier than going through and adding the directory mappings in the app.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why I changed it back to the default windows mappings when I reinstalled awhile back!

so if you sahre that folder directly...not the drive letter, but the folder you would enter this

X:\TV_Recordings1,//192.168.1.x/{sharename}

where share name = "recordings" or TV_Recordings1"

try the above and let us know if tha tworks.

I changed mine from UNC paths to windows drives to increase performance. The write time was slower using UNC paths. Might be a strange thing with my setup.

I've been using unc paths for a while with no issues. That's odd that it would decrease performance. The OS should see the directory the same way it would see a local drive letter and directory. Very strange.

I thought my performance issues were because of UNC paths as well (HD-PVR) but switched back to UNC paths quite some time ago and have had no issues. And it makes everything much easier to maintain with the WHS.

OK... I may have spoke too soon. It appears that Boxee may be putting out a new build 'in the fall', so that is not too far away...

In the meantime, if anyone has an ATV1, it appears that Sam Nazarko (the creator of the ATV-patchstick) may be building a linux based boxee build for the ATV1! He already has it running XBMC, and a boxee build can't be 'THAT' much different...

http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=40657

With the additional Broadcom CrystalHD support, built in support for 1080p output, and full Flash 10.1+ support, this may end up being an OK purchase for me!

Here is the website for the CrystalHD Linux build for the ATV... hopefully soon to have Boxee!
http://stmlabs.com/forum/forum/cryst...x-distribution

OK... Back to the original topic...

Can't get this to work.

I installed Boxee on my pc. I installed the sage app from the repository and entered the address to my sage server which is 192.168.1.104:8080. I then clicked to start it and it prompted me for the username and I entered sage. It prompted me for the password, I entered frey. When I click on the app the screen changes for a second and then the apps screen is back and nothing happens. I previously got the sage menu screen to show when I entered my server username and password , but no recordings would show. Any idea as to waht is going on or what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Enable debug logging in Boxee (in your boxee settings), try again, post the boxee.log file.
