I'm dumb and forgot to change the quality on my netflix profile. Woops. Boxee's netflix app needs work though. Episodes aren't in order, or are missing for no reason. Movies work fine, but TV has a long way to go.

Does anyone know if the Boxee can play Amazon HD VOD at it's native resolution.. 720p; along with 5.1 channel audio? It would be great to play them back at full quality without using a PC.

Boxee can play amazon VOD period? Didn't think that was even possible.

Just the software version for some reason. The version of Netflix on the Boxee Box is actually pretty good.

Just some quick info to help clarify a few things about "Boxee". The software version (0.9.23.xxxx) for Linux, Windows, ATV, and OS X hasn't been updated since late September of last year. The software/firmware for the Boxee Box has been updated pretty continually since its launch back in November.

This means that there are apps that will work in one but not the other, or that some apps (Netflix and the Boxee Browser in particular) have been completely updated for the Box but are all but broken in v0.9

As far as Amazon VOD goes, that doesn't work in Boxee at all, I think that Amazon would have to decide minimally to allow their content via Boxee and possibly even be responsible for the app development directly.

It does make sense that they would focus on that seeing that it is the main showcase for boxee. I wish they would fix the software side. I did find a way to launch WMC directly into the netflix ui so I'm going to try that instead. I do like the pandora app in boxee. I haven't tried VUDU or anything like that. I'll try the sage app since wifey is out of town for the week so I can't annoy her with my tinkering.

I'm on vacation and my brain isn't fully engaged I should have mentioned that Boxee has announced that they an updated 1.x version for the computer platforms should be released this fall and that generally, that version will lag the Boxee Box version (but hopefully not by nearly 12 months going forward!)

Unbelievable. It only confirms that my advice to clients to turn off the news because they exaggerate most everything is good advice.

To start over go to the Boxee/userdata/apps folder and delete the folder com.googlecode.sagetvboxee.sageboxee. I have no idea how to uninstall it if you're using a Box.
Hi Tom,

I'm seemingly having the same problem as sabre was. Start Sage app in Boxee, immediately exits. Here's a section of my Boxee log file:

Any idea how to fix this? I've tried deleted the folder you suggested - I still get this error, and the Sage app immediately exits. Oh, and I'm sure it's obvious from the log, but I'm running on a PC, not a Boxee box.

Thx.

Any idea how to fix this? I've tried deleted the folder you suggested - I still get this error, and the Sage app immediately exits. Oh, and I'm sure it's obvious from the log, but I'm running on a PC, not a Boxee box.

Thx.
In a web browser, load this URL:

Code:
http://host:port/sagex/api?c=GetOS&encoder=json
Replace host and port with the host and port of your Jetty plugin. Do you get a response? If so, what is it? If you don't get a response saying something like:

{"Result":"Windows XP"}

Then the Boxee app will never load. Of course, sub the OS name as appropriate for your system. You must have the sagex remote APIs plugin installed on your Sage server and the HTTP interface must be enabled (it is by default). If you get a response like the one above then the remote APIs are working. If the boxee app still won't load then make sure you're specifying the settings properly. If it's still not working, enable debug logging in Boxee and try to load the app again. Then provide the log file with debug log statements shown.

Slugger,

Thanks for the info! I'll try that when I get home tonight. In the meantime, I've realized that I never put a port number in when I set up the Boxee Sage app - and that might be the problem. Where can I fix the connection information to have a port number? When I run the Sage app in Boxee, it immediately exits, so I get no chance to go to Setup. Is there some .XML file, or somewhere in the registry where this info is stored? I tried deleting the ..../Application Data\BOXEE\userdata\apps\com.googlecode.sagetvboxee.sageboxee folder, but the app did not prompt me for server and password the next time I ran it.

It should not exit without starting, that's a bug. Please post the logfile so I can take a look at it. The logfile is in the BOXEE/userdata folder.

You may have to first go to the Boxee settings and set the log level to debug.

What should happen is that the app should tell you it can't connect then give you the option to continue anyway. Once the app starts then you can go to Settings->Boxee and edit the connection information.

I am not in front of my system right now, but also delete the files in the <profile> directory, and restart Boxee, add the sage app back, and it should ask you for details.

Slugger's info should help me try to find out why I am unable to connect.

That's pretty funny. I can't believe someone actually wrote that. Now I remember why I never watch the "news".

However, it does give you guys credit to how awesome you are.

Yeah... I wonder how many disappointed/angry boxee users there'll be when they come to the realization this app will do absolutely nothing for them? At the same time, it's cool to see Sage get some traction no matter how contorted the perception really is.

That wouldn't surprise me, as far as I know, my SageTV iOS app got a one star rating from someone who didn't know what SageTV was or how to click an iTunes link...
