Do you shut the service down before unplugging?
Absolutely no reason to shutdown the service before either 'soft' resetting (command line) or 'hard' resetting (pull plug) . The SageDCT service does *not* monitor the sources... it simply tries to connect on demand (demand meaning a tuning request from SageTV)

I have the exe, config and ports all set under exceptions so should be covered?

I found the logs and agreed it was buried. I have log files from today and then it skips to 1 week ago. Not sure why no logs for the past 5 days when issues occurred.

Again, remove all that and just add 1 rule that allows all traffic 'in' to the 'SageDCT.exe' app from all locations and all zones (domain, private, public)

Sounds like there were no errors. What is wrong with the recordings? Have you tried to play them in an alternate player like VLC?

The only choice on programs is "change scope" and the selections are:
any computer including internet, my network (subnet only) and custom list.

That's because you are using Windows 2003... which doesnt have the advanced firewall (netsh firewall only, not netsh advfirewall).

For WHS2003 (same as Windows 2003) the equivalent rule is:

Quote:
netsh firewall add allowedprogram="C:\Program Files\babgvant\SageDCT\SageDCT.exe" name = "SageDCT" mode=ENABLE

It has succesfully recorded on the 3 Prime tuners at the same time during a test I ran 1 week ago. I selected 5 programs to record at the same time and all recorded. I then left on a trip and "all" Prime recordings did not record and showed the error where it says channel may be missing, it will try and reset, etc. It then failed many times and there was no recording in Sage for any of these.

I looked in ConfigureSageDCT.exe.config file and do not see anything about static port setting. I would state that it is installed as default and version 2.6.0.0

Here is a clip of a Prime tuner in Sage properties

I have just started 2 recordings via selecting them in the guide. I selected cable listings so it would force the Prime tuners to pick them up. They now appear to be recording fine for the last 5 minutes.

The only difference I see from these to the ones that failed when I was gone is I selected them from the guide instead of it starting a recording from a preselected time and that the Prime tuner was rebooted.

My successful test pre-trip of 5 seperate recordings was done by manually selecting them from the guide as well. I cannot see how this would make a difference, but trying to include all details.

btw, you can reduce this 10 second delay to 0:

Code:
mmc/encoders/123456980/delay_to_wait_after_tuning=10000
Quote:
mmc/encoders/123456980/100/0/encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=false
when set to true it will produce an mpeg stream instead of the default ts (transport stream)

should not effect you at all.. only matters for decoder (not recording).

Would mpeg stream be easier for SageTV to play and comskip to run on? Reason I ask is it seems SageTV has a harder time playing the TS files or it uses more resources?

Please consider me a dummy and expect me to answer your help with a question - here goes - how can I see what firmware version Prime is on?

Found it
Firmware: 20130528

The last official firmware release is:

Release 20130328

http://www.silicondust.com/forum2/vi...hp?f=19&t=2484

The firmware you specified is not a Beta version either:

http://www.silicondust.com/forum2/vi...hp?f=19&t=2484

You can find your firmware version using the HDHomerun Config UI utility...
I'd double check ... since I see no 20130528 listed...

Either case, I'd flash it back to the last official build: 20130328

Do that using the config utility.

the TS is just a container... doesnt take any more reasons really. I've never had any performance issue with it...

what you are probably noticing is that TS usually contains H264 and the PS contains just MPEG2... there definitely is a difference there.
