Probably dumb questions but...
I'm trying to get SageDCT and an HDHomeRun Prime running on a headless XP box. SageDCT generates the assignments file just fine and I can send commands to the HDHR Prime from the SageDCT setup GUI without issue. The WinXP firewall is on and the correct UDP ports are poked through the wall. However, SageTV isn't showing the new sources. Can PlayOn interfere with the setup? Does SageTV generate a log file identifying network encoders or errors associated with using them? Where does SageDCT write it's log file? I've got it installed here: "C:\Program Files\babgvant.com\SageDCT" but no log files shows up. I have it set to 'verbose' but nothing seems to show up anywhere on the system. Is this an XP non-compatibility? I setup a system variable defining "ProgramData" but that didn't seem to help. Thanks. Paul P |

Yes, its pasted in. I disabled the sage service when I did it. The system had been rebooted since then, too, and the input stuck. Is there a way to tell if sage is throwing errors on what its reading?

Alright, since Silicon Dust has said they no longer plan to support XP, I'm going to have to upgrade to Windows 7. I've considered going straight to 8 but those who have are having issues. I'll wait for a service pack first.
I'm also hoping that going to Windows 7 reduces some of the mysterious halt issues I continue to have. I still have a hard time understanding the root of the halt problem. It can't be that more complicated than network encoder support and I have zero issues with multiple servers/devices there. |

I don't know what else to tell you but XP is no longer supported by Silicondust see phelme post.

Since I've upgraded to SageDCT 2.6 and more recent firmware on the Prime (20121107beta1) I've had no halts for nearly 2 weeks. Yeah.
So I may hold off on a Win 7 or 8 upgrade for a bit. |

I'm still participating in the Ceton Echo beta and have my HDHR Prime connected to my WMC test box. It is possible to share the HDHR Prime tuners between WMC and Sage?

there is no way for wmc and sagetv to be aware of each other's use of the tuners. best to simply divide the tuners between the two. otherwise recordings will fail if the tuner is suppose to be available to one system but isnt because the system other has it in use.

I don't have redzone but I do have fios. And I had the issue on the nfl network and it annoyed me so much that I switched it so that it was one of the channels that I have to tune using my hd-pvr and stb like hbo and Cinemax as my ceton cards can't handle them either. Supposedly if you do the vlc option the issue goes away but I didn't want the slower channel tuning.

FYI - The speed delay tuning with vlc is barely longer on my system. Only the latency of starting the process is noticeable which is insignificant on a fast machine.

I had the same problem with the NFL Network on my HD300.
I changed the "Native Output Resolution Switching" to "DISABLED" in Setup>Detailed Setup>Multimedia. I would sometimes get a little flickering on my screen when watching the NFL RedZone, but with the setting set to "DISABLED", the flickering was gone. I normally have it set to "ENABLED" and only change it when I watch the NFL channels. I do not know if it's a HD300 issue or the my Plasma TV. Mark |

Any thoughts on why I'm getting recordings with multiple segments? I never used to get that on win7 before I went to win 8 and then came back to win7. I then tried to use the vlc recording in win7 but am getting the same error I was getting in win8: "Error starting VLC: The process cannot access the file 'T:\SageTV Recordings\Today-S2012E314-7676284-0.mpg' because it is being used by another process." Any thoughts on either how I can get PBDA support to not spit out recordings with multiple segments or how I can get vlc support working? I checked my firewall settings and both sagetv, vlc, and sagedct all have access.

I just set up Prime a few weeks ago and I've been having occasional halts with my rig. I'm running 20121011beta1 with SageDCT 2.6 I may try updating to the new beta. Do I have to reinstall anything after a firmware update on Prime - SageDCT? - register the CableCard? Thanks, uberpixel

One halt too many
Okay. Tonight my prime halted on both airings of Gold Rush. That's unacceptable.
Could someone summarize the best practices for eliminating these halts? I've only recently setup the prime, and although I've read almost every post in this thread, it's unclear if people have been able to resolve the halt issue or if there is a certain level of halts that is considered acceptable. Any help would be appreciated. My setup is in my signature. I can provide more info on my setup as needed. Thanks in advance, Uberpixel
