I tried to send the smaller of the two, but it was still too large for my email server. How about dropbox? Here's the public link to the file.

Works great!

After 8 hours or so of trying, re-reading this thread, re-trying different things, I finally got Sage working with the Prime & FIOS cablecard perfectly yesterday afternoon. I am extremely happy - as are my wife & kids. The picture is excellent, tuning times are soo much faster, and the ability to watch/record 3 different channels simultaneously is fantastic. Now if I can just figure out why the (donators version) Comskip doesn't work automatically I'd be in heaven.

Also tried to install sagemctuner by running the install.cmd from an elevated command prompt and got the following:
Quote:
C:\sagemctuner>[2 or 3 weird special characters here]"C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\InstallUtil.exe" SageMCTuner.exe
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
So I can't win fer losin'
The special characters look a little like ULl but aren't part of the alphabet.

It was reported in another thread that there is a bug in the donator's version of comskip that makes it output empty .edl files if you are trying to process live TV files.

I use the Showanalyzer, replacing the donator's version of Comskip. It works amazingly well given about 10 minutes lead time.

Can't get it to work in Windows Media Center, though.

Delete them all, then with verbose logging enable run through the failure case (start SageTV, try to tune a channel, etc). Send me the whole file.

Yep, since it was released. Been working great.

Sorry, the cmd file probably got saved with the wrong encoding. Copy/paste the contents into an elevate cmd prompt.

AVIVO (renamed "AMD Media Codec Package") is a separate download on the optional downloads tab.

Well, so far deleting the old log files has been a charm. Initially I was getting some flaky results, where some channels would tune just fine and others would get a "no signal." Eventually I noticed that the ones getting a "no signal" were all QAM channels, with a physical channel tuning to go along with that. I edited the channels by mapping those 3-digit ones to a single number corresponding to the logical channel number, and they started working. Just for the heck of it (and because I'm using a short-distance high speed wireless connection) I decided to record on all three tuners at once. I did that for two hours, mostly without a hitch. (Once in a while there'd be a short pause but no de-pixelation.)

I'll keep the verbose logging for a few days, and make sure that WMC and SageTV aren't trying to use the same tuners at the same time.

It looks like the downside to all this great news is that ShowAnalyzer isn't working any more. It works fine on the QAM tuners, so I might set one or two back to QAM. Well, I could only do that if I could specify which tuners record which shows. Since Tuner0 can't be QAMmed, that would force SageTV to record all the non-QAM channels on that tuner, but it wouldn't prevent the other tuners from being used. Anyway, I can live without the comskip/showanalyzer function until they get that fixed.

I've had these tuners working before, but then they started getting flaky, so will keep the verbose log on until it's run a few days. If it fails again I'll send you the log.

I might go ahead and install the latest firmware too. It's non-beta, so it should be safe...

iirc you can download older versions of comskip... so you can always download the last version that processes live files correctly...

They say that the 24beta2 is exactly the same as the 28, so there's no good reason for me to update. They just re-named it.

I don't think the problem is "live files." Both Showanalyzer and the donation version of Comskip process those, although Showanalyzer seems a bit better at it. The problem is, I suspect, the fact that the streams for the cable card are encrypted or in some other way bugged up. In fact, I know that's the problem because Showanalyzer was working fine on the QAM versions of the same stations on the same tuners.

Actually, it just occurred to me what you're talking about. Showanalyzer doesn't work with these files so it's possible that Comskip does, but the most recent version of Comskip doesn't process live files. I'm going to try switching back to Comskip to see if that will work. I noticed ShowAnalyzer hasn't been updated in a year or so.

All three over WiFi? TBH, I'm surprised that works

i have an older version of comskip (80.039 donators) that processes live files without issue (mpg from hdhr, ts from hdhrprime, and ts from hdpvr) so i know that the streams from the hdhrprime are not funny in some way wrt to live processing...

here is the post that tmiranda was talking about that quotes the comskip readme that states that it is no longer processing live files (of any type). so i would suggest (if live support is important to you) that until comskip is fixed (wrt live files) that you find a 0.80 version and use that.

Andy, it failed again but I can't send you the log file because it's over a Gigabyte. Got a couple of error messages and the recording breaks up a LOT. Odd that it would simultaneously record on all three tuners for a couple of hours, and then go crazy on one recording. While this flawed recording was happening I actually looked at the same show in QuickTV and it played OK. Also, it's still flaky watching live TV on SageTV on any channel, whether another tuner is being used or not, so it's not that. Once it goes flaky it stays flaky.

But I don't know how to get a log to you. Talk about verbose. Over a Gig??

Update: I'll try deleting that big verbose file and doing a 5 minute recording. Assuming it's still flaky the file won't be huge.

I'm getting halts...

I'm occasionally getting halts on the PRIME tuners. More often than not its at the beginning.

Code:
The device input "Prime 0 xxxx-0 on 127.0.0.1:6975 Digital TV Tuner"
stopped producing data while recording "Say Yes to the Dress: Big Bliss" on
TLCHD on physical channel 867. SageTV will try to reset the device. This
may be caused by a channel that is no longer available.
I'm getting it at 1 minute past the start of the recording. Did I miss a setting that will tune the show earlier or something? I'd hate to have to set ALL my shows to start recording 1 minute earlier to the missed minute due to the halt!

I'd like to say it was something to do it being one of my wife's shows and an unwillingness to record a crap show.. but it does it to my shows as well!

There are also times (usually after a reboot) when DCT isn't running or I have to stop and restart to get it to record again.. FYI...

Jim

Edit: Here is the DCT log snippit for one of the halts..

I'm using a very fast WiFi connection. It's 5 Ghz with the multicast rate as high as I can get it, and the distance is only about 6 feet. I tried recording for a shorter time after deleting that monstrous log file but it *didn't save a log*. Even after running config again, it wouldn't save anything but the new config log. No "running" log file.

SageTV was recording on tuner 2 according to the HDHRP config GUI, so at the same time I tested Tuner 0 on QuickTV and it ran just fine. One thing I noted on both tuners the signal strength was 81%.

So SageDCT isn't producing logs now that I know how to keep the size reasonable. I'm stumpted.

81% is kinda borderline for a cable signal, I know I had dropouts in the past when my levels were that low. Have you considered putting in an amp?

The other thing to try to eliminate the possibility of it being WiFi related is run with Ethernet for a while to see how it behaves.

It's still WiFi.
