Can't watch Hulu/Netflix/Playon on multiple TVs at the same time

I have two Media MVPs and my sage server running 7.1.9.256. If I start up any content from Netflix, Hulu, or any Playon source on one tv or the computer and then try watching a completely different show from any of these sources on a different device, the status bar for the first video jumps to the end of the show and stops streaming any new content. The time status keeps going like it thinks it it is playing something, but no video is streamed. It seems to me that this is a conflict with the cache for the buffering.

If I watch one show through SageTV on any of the media extenders and watch a second one on the PC through Media Center it works fine. Also watching online content through Sage from YouTube or Google on multiple devices works fine.

I have searched around but can't find an answer. Any help would be appreciated. I know that this used to work fine, but we really don't use it all that often so I am not sure when it stopped working. Maybe around the time that I upgraded to Sage 7.

As I understand it, PlayOn only supports processing one content stream at a time so you can only access content through PlayOn at one location at a time.

When Playon Streams for an extender it is streaming to the Sage server, a single device. It does not stream it to the extender, per se. From this perspective you can only use Playon on a single extender at a time. A PC client (any number) are separate devices and thus you can have multiple PC clients and one extender use Playon at the same time.

Thanks! Interesting. It seemed like we had watched different shows from Hulu at the same time on different extenders, but I guess not. That is too bad. It would definitely be nice if this were possible.

If the your server has the horsepower to do it, load a virtual server on it with with a windows os and playon. This should give you access to another stream for the extender. I just finished running mulliple streams for my mothers mvps. Her sageserver didn't have the processing power to host playon in the virtual environment and the nonvirtual environment. Left one installed on the sageserver, and installed another copy on her 3ghz pentium4 wireless desktop. Using the playon plugin she can now now do two simultaneous streams.

I was just thinking about that exact setup. I have a quad core box with 4GB RAM so it can host the virtual server. I have some virtual instances that I haven't fired up in awhile. Are there any special configurations to point one MVP to the virtual server?

The playon plugin gives you the ability to browse upnp and chose a different server. So on the MVP you browse to the alternate server, select it and you are good to go. I believe you have to make the choice everytime you began using playon on that MVP.

I have a Intel Q8300 with 4 gig of ram WinXP sp3. Using Microsoft 2007 virtual PC with virtual Winxp 1gig of ram. I get all green lights. My internet connection is 6 megs.

Perfect. Makes sense. I will give it a try but this definitely should work.
