Sage Crashes Consistently
Help please. I have been trying different settings for the HD and MPEG settings (detailed settings) and now I have a big problem: everytime a show gets to the end (finished watching), Sage crashes. It does one of two things: it freezes and never returns; or it crashes and closes (and I get that crappy dialogue box asking if I want to send the information to Microsoft).
I'm not sure what to do. I noticed last night that now my HD300 will boot, but I can not play any recorded shows. The show starts, but it just sits there with a black screen and no sound. HELP! The family is quite upset at me right now.....they now say that everytime I mess with the system, it gets progressively worse. I've really messed something up now. |

1. My gut says it sounds like your recording hard drive is failing 2. Check the windows event viewer in the application log. It should tell you at least what component is causing the crash.

Try this chkdsk tutorial with each drive you have or in safe mode run cammond line chkdsk "drive lettler": /f /r like chkdsk c: /f /r for c drive.
If all drive check out fine then the next step is check you memory this memory tutorial or Memtest86 Memory Diagnostic Last edited by SHS; 07-08-2011 at 01:02 PM. |

I think I have found the problem. I re-installed PowerDVD v9. I can then choose to use PDVD for the sage video and audio drivers in setup. That stopped the issues with crashing.
then, for freezing, I noticed that only shows being watched in real-time were having issues. I noticed that DirMon was taking the show, as it was being recorded, and trying to stip commercial. I checked the boxes to not allow DirMon to start comskip until the file was done and not increasing in size. This seems to have fixed everything..... |

That sounds about right. I can make stuff like that happen at will changing codecs around.
If you get something and it works, stick with it. Sounds like you are fine now.
