CompUSA - 250GB for $129 + shipping

Might be just for today (May30), here's the link. I just got 250GB a few days ago and with this deal had to get another 250GB.

Yeah I went to the local store and picked up the only one there. On the slick deals forums there is suspicion that the employees of the stores hoard these things before the doors open, because whenever you go to the store the merchandise is rarely there. I was the first was one in the door...and there was only one hard drive on the shelf.

The employees aren't hoarding. The stores just use ads for cheap deals to get people in there, and then only have a few of what's on sale. They really don't want to sale things that cheap. OfficeMax is especially bad about this. I refuse to buy anything there.

I don't buy that, cuz I just got through yelling at the people at CompUSA until one of the mgr's managed to magically *FIND* the last one in the back room. They were hoarding the drives alright. But I got mine...

It's kind of suspicious.... Today was the first day of the sale right? I was the first one to walk in the door, there were about 10 of us people waiting outside the doors when it opened up at 10am here. I promptly showed the salesman the ad I printed from the web and he showed me to the hard drives and there it was, the last one?

It's like wait...rewind: first day of sale...first one in the door...last hard drive on the shelf. I looked around for others because I wanted to buy two. If I was working there...I would hoard them too...if that's what is going on. I got it, I'm happy....but since I'm so unselfish...it's not for me, I got it for someone else.

They also had a deal for a Seagate 120GB HD for $90 ($60 after mail in) if anyone is interested: http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...&ref=cj&pfp=cj

If you really want this deal....you might be able to get OfficeMax, BestBuy, or even Staples to price match.

Wouldn't be surprising, if I had friends that works there, I'll be tempted to call them up to hide one for me.

Btw, the online (out of stock now as someone else has mentioned) shipping was only $5, it was worth it to save the uncertainty of a trip to the local store.

Be careful. I purchased 4 maxtors last Nov during a similar sale. I've lost 3 out of 4 including one out of the box that didn't work. Also, Maxtor's 8meg cache only have one year warranties.

Actually, that's what I kind of meant. I don't doubt they often have the product in the store. It's just hidden in back. Then, suddenly, the next Sunday when the sale is off, they just happen to have a bunch of them again. This is why I like to buy online.

Good call, I honestly have had no luck whatsoever with the Hitachi drives.. Anyway, I like my new maxtor, and the wife likes the fact that we are no longer out of space.. eheh
