Question About Blackbird Card.

Ok, Iam thinking about purchasing the sage/blackbird bundle pack.

I would like to know what peoples experiences are with them?

Also, in one of the descriptions of the blackbird, it says something like this

'The Roslyn card can record full screen TV using 2 GB of hard disk space per hour.'

Is that the max quality that it can record, or are they just making the point of 2gb/hr for full screen TV??

Also, will the StreamZap remote that comes with them, still work with serial, if serial is available w/digital cable??

Thanks, cc

yeah an pc based remote has the ability to work with Sage it does not matter if you are using a serial connection for the cable box
also that is not the max quality
the pvr 250 roslyn model is the same as the other pvr 250/350/usb2 models and the max bit rate is 15 MB/sec CBR and the max recording would be around 6 to 7 GB an hour
Sage may be configured to limit these cards to 12 MB/sec CBR but that is a limitation on Sage not on the card (never tried to do a higher bit rate than the 5.6 GB/hr Max recording quality) maybe when football season comes around

Heheh -- football season. I'll be bumping up the bitrates as well then because of all the action and fast motion. Currently I'm using an Adaptec Videoh! DVD Media Center USB 2.0 unit with BTV, but for some reason the unit won't capture any higher than 6000000 Mbps with BTV.

I just ordered the Blackbird model from Frey and hope that works well. SageTV seems a little more difficult to get used to, but it seems to have a lot more configuration possibilities.

just because the chip can do it, doesnt mean hauppauge allowed it to do it, the CX23415 can do pip too, but you dont see the 250 with pip, the CX23415 can do hardware decoding too, but you dont see the 250's with that chip doing hardware decoding.

hauppauge says 12
