PVR-250 IR SENSOR question.

Is there something special about the IR sensor that plugs into the PVR-250 card aside from the fact that it has a specific connector on the end?

Can I purchace an off the shelf IR sensor and expect it to work?

I'm thinking of installing it INSIDE my case (my case has a LCD and a "window" it will be up against facing outwards) and thought I may not get good reception this way, and was wondering if there were stronger, less directional IR recievers available that I could use with the PVR-250 card. (without having to load any software...plug and play)

Thanks

What you could do is take off the plastic and see what the part number is on it, then look it up at the manufacturers website, use the data from the datasheet to find a compatable "stronger" alternative.

It should not be hard to find one, the ir cable probably has a +5Vdc feed a Ground and a data line.
