Freeze after 3 seconds theory

I still have intermittent 3 seconds lock ups when changing channels. But I think I can narrow down to these facts:

1. Changing to a channel that I've never watched will never lock up.
2. Changing to a channel that I've watched that still has the same tv program the last time I watched will sometimes lock up.
3. When lock up happens in #2, the timeshifting bar on the bottom has a big white section.

This leads me to believe that if Sage server deletes the buffer mpeg file before changing channel, lock up will not happen. I don't think we need to keep the old timeshifting buffer file anyways since it's not continuous anymore.

4. Changing to a channel that I've watched, but the TV program has changed since the last time I watched that channel, will never lock up.
