A big +1 on that - that was one of my all-time favorites back when I used to drink. I wish they made a N/A version

If it was the monks' only dietary sustenance, it had to be in large quanties, right?

Being from Milwaukee, I can tell you that anyone around here can just order it / refer to it as "The Beast". My suspicion/the rumor that floated around among friends is that "The Beast" is quite simply what they squeegee off the floor and clean out of the fluid lines and machinery (cleaning agents inclusive) at the end of the day, in $4.99/24 pk form.

I did learn from a friend, who worked on designing brewery tanks in St. Louis, that when the Budweiser "taste experts" sit down every day at 3 pm to taste samples of the batches (that's not just fluff for the commercials, they really do it), and they have batches from various places that are "unsatisfactory" to be labeled Budweiser, that rejected stuff is what becomes Busch beer. TMYK....

Not that many participating in this discussion would choose to drink either, but I thought it was an interesting/humorous tidbit.

Yeap, you summed that up pretty well. Actually, I think you were a bit kind.

Good god, the budweiser experts look down on Busch? That reminds me of the last Oakland Mayoral Election, where candidates proudly said they may be inexperienced and have made many mistakes, but at least they weren't corrupt like the other guys. (or for the east coast'ers, when Oliver North ran against Chuck Robb in '94 for the senate, I had a bumper sticker that said something like "Vote for the Adulterer and not the Liar."

It's kind of like coors light vs keystone light. Some say all keystone is is "skunked" coors light. I tend to agree. Granted with all my beer sampling of late they both taste like old water (as do most american beers, the big one's at least).

I don't know how the topic suddenly changed from Sage to beer to Montreal... But if you can find it, a very unique beer from Quebec is Maudite - never had anything like it, and it's in my top 5.

And Jeff, if you can finangle a way to get a future PVR/TV streaming product to work in a native Android app, you will be my hero and I will send you a selection of BC brews.

Okanagan Spring Brewery is in your neck of the woods (well I guess a few hours east of Vancouver). I would love to see their beer make it to the US...good stuff.

I have two dogs and one is a Rottweiler and the other is a German Shepherd/Mastiff mix. The rottie is smart, but his lazy overpowers his intelligence. If it takes too much effort he would rather lay down and take a nap. The shepherd on the other hand is way too smart for his own good. I have to deadbolt my back door because he figured out how to turn a doorknob. He has also found a way to unscrew my sprinkler head in a spot he likes to lay in the back yard. I have no clue how he is doing it. It is in a corner between a wall and the fence, so I don't think he is grabbing it and turning around in a circle. Plus he's a hyper 120lb 6.5' head to tail monster that my rottie is too lazy to play with so he is always exploding with energy. What's funny is he is the "little" dog. The rottie weighs around 160lb and is taller, but not as long (considering he has no tail).

Not just Maudite, but La Fin du Monde (also from Unibroue) is even better to me. Pretty close to real Belgian beers for my taste...

Just checked their website and it seems there are a few places near me that carry them. Thanks for the suggestion.

looks like i'm a little late to the party.

I've skimmed over the thread, and I really don't have a good feeling about this. I think selling with no warning whatsoever to those of us that have invested money in SageTV setups is a dick move, plain and simple.

Anyway, I guess we are at the mercy of our new Google overlords, which sucks for those of us that are trying to stay away from their "Cloud Everything" approach these days.
