there is a plethora of knowledge here for those of us who need it from time to time.
Can you imagine Sage existing WITHOUT this forum? Nobody would have ever been able to get their setups working, and Jeff would have had to hire 20 phone operators if he wanted to stay in business.
The community helped Jeff make his millions. Hopefully he will, in return, help the community by clearing out the media extenders and off-loading the knowledge to those who supported Sage for so long.

I honestly think Jeff is sitting there reading this thread and thinking to himself "if only they knew, and I can't tell them yet."

It all boils down to the fact that we have no clue. That's it.

I hope your right.

I'd also guess that watching all the anxiety (an you know he is watching) is causing Jeff some anxiety.

Actually, I remember reading that the 30% cut is actually going to the carriers, not to Google... At least it was true before wifi tablets started getting The Market.

If you will note in the quote from the email that they will support existing users. The question that needs to be answered is how are the going to do that.

WOW! Stay away for a week and your house is sold when you come back.

Congrats to the boys of course, but I dont see it as positive for me.

I'm a Windows fanboy. I just setup Sage on my daughters new Windows tablet. Why? I hate google, I hate iPads, I want the ability to install and own any piece of software I am interested in. Why do I want to put my media in the iCloud or the GoogleVoid when I can stream it from my house with my Win7 Phone? P/S works great as a streamer on any Win7 device.

I don't WANT an appliance. I dont WANT a cloud. I AM IN CONTROL OF MY DESTINY, and I am not ready to give it all up.

Damn, I am now having a crappy day..

Grant

My guess is that the relationship between Sage and Google started with Sage looking into getting GoogleTV on their extenders. Sage may have even made headway into integrating Sage with GoogleTV, when someone at Google took notice and said "Hey, we want this."

Support is such a vague term. Tech support for software issues? Hardware warranty support? Software updates to address bugs? Could be all. Could be none.

I'm not even sure what sort of support they offered prior to this, since the forums really provided all the support one might need. Did they have tech support phone numbers? If so, do they still work? Is anyone from (sage) answering support emails?

Jeff -and- Google - They might even be reading it an laughing at some of our ideas, and at others going "hey there's an idea we didn't think of"

Oracle agrees that Android is similar enough to Java to demand $1.4B to $6.1B. If you ask Google, Android isn't Java, it's Dalvik!

I'm sure if Google could do it again Dalvik wouldn't be anything like Java. As it stands, Oracle is doing a great job of preventing new projects from using Java.

If Google could do it again, they would have acquired Sun.

What do you expect they will tell us? Do you really think this is good news for SageTV users? All companies bought out by the "big ones" killed off their product in the process. Just watch what will happen with Skype once they're all on the Microsoft payroll.

The link for Request Official SageTV Technical Support just goes to the "SageTV has been acquired by Google" page.

Give them a chance to catch their breaths. It hasn't even been 1 business day yet. Jeff wouldn't have promised support if it wasn't part of the deal.

It's piss poor

It's totally shoddy by the SageTV team. No excuses.

They should have arranged for the shop and other services to have remained fully operational until adequate alternates were in place. They should have negotiated this as part of the sale/transfer, if supporting of their customers was even on their list, or a real concern to them.

To leave customers unable to purchase extenders and so on is simply as slap in the face to they loyal customers.

Shame on you.
