Java Heap Max Message Question
I have read through quite a few threads about java heap size on both server and clients.
I increased the java heap size to 1024 through regedit and I see that the change happened. When I did so I made sure that sage service was off and so was sage. Prior to doing this I made sure to uninstall my old java and installed the latest java version. I have done all of this and everything looks like it took, but when I look in SageTv gui and go to system messages it still displays 389M Max for the java heap, even though I see the max is 1024 in regedit and the applet I downloaded. Is it really changed???

Probably not. Are you aware of the differences between 32 bit and 64 bit systems? I would search the registry for JVMMaxHeapSizeMB and see if they are all the same.

Weird. Shows on extenders
OK, when I look at the JH size on the 64bit server, I see 255used/332total /389max.
When I look at the HD300 extenders it is around 485used/714total/1038max. When I setup the heap size on my 8gig memory 64 bit server I used regedit and went to HKey_Local_Machine / SOFTWARE / WOW6432Node / Frey Technologies / SageTV / JVMHeapSize MB. I set the max size to 400 Hex. I thought that would change both 32 and 64 bit sides of the JH. Don't understand why the HD300s see the heap size change on the server, but the server does not indicate the change. (Thanks for the reply!!)

Quote:
The extenders, on the other hand, use a portion of the server java heap. Which explains the behavior that you are seeing.

Now it understand
Thanks for the info KeithAbbott. At this point I won't try to do anything with the clients unless I see an issue of running out of JH Memory like I saw on the server and the HD300s.
Since I added Diamond and a couple other plugins I was having issues, but everything seems cool now. Thanks
