Schedule XMLTV download in WinXP
Hi,
I'm running WinXP and I have automatic logon active and my user id has no password. My problem is that when I want to use the WinXP scheduler app. it asks for a user id + pwd to run the tasks. I really want the automatic logon because it is a pain to enter a password without a keyboard when I have to reboot (happens once in a while when my wireless networks looses its connection). Can I have automatic logon and still use a password or do you use a third party scheduler to download the XMLTV data? Many thanks, Jan |

Hi Jan,
The user that you are auto logging in with... is it the Administrator user or have you created another user ??? if you'r using another username apart from Administrator to auto logon with then in the scheduled task set the user as <htpcname>\Administrator and give it the Administrator password. |

For the Win XP scheduler to work it needs a user with a password. You could use something like TweakUI to autologon a user with a password.

There is a document in the Microsoft knowledge base that will tell you how to setup Automatic Login (Q310584 ). This method supports a supplied password for the user.
I have used this with both Win2k pro and WinXP pro. -David Last edited by manic_tool; 05-26-2004 at 07:51 AM. |

run "control userpasswords2" and you can select one user to auto logon
