HD100 shuts off on its own ?

my HD100 will sometimes just shut off while I am watching a show or recording. I usually can turn it right back on, but it is rather annoying..

I have already replace the power supply Caps..

any ideas? my other 2 HD100s seem fine

Two things that come to mind are stray IR and bad power. When it shuts off is it just going into standby or is it restarting?

I hve not completely paid close attention, but it did go to standby the last time. The video will stop (freeze) then it goes to standby.

the network is connection is a wired line, but goes through a switch, which could also have an issue..

Next time it happens I will see if I am using the remote. I might swap this box with another one that does not get as much use

That doesn't sound like a power supply issue. Also, goes into standby isn't really helpful, since that is very hard to verify. The screen could just be black. Hitting power button twice would bring it out of standby, no matter what the original condition was, provided it was on.

One thing to look at is the green comms light. Is it still flashing or black. Also, at the switch is it still communicating with the switch?

Or some kind of sleep timer plugin.

I would suspect a bad cable or the problem with your switch. Why did you say your switch may be an issue? Last Friday I learned fom support that the HD300 will turn itself off if it loses communication with the server. I don't know if it applies to the HD100 but seems likely.

My HD100 will go blackscreen, but it will not turn off (go to standby). Once communication is restores, it comes back to life.

I have heard of issues with the 5port D-link switch which is what I have had.. in past I have had to reset it.

I will pay more attention to these components when it happens again.

happened again. I did not see if I lost a light on the 5 port Switch.

here is what I noticed:
It was running okay, Picture froze, Link light stopped blinking (off), Active light was still lit.

Picture went black, then the Active light went out. I could bring the unit it out of standby and it would work

Later I went to what another recording and the picture froze ( in a menu, link light and active were both solid, unless there is a IR light, then is was an IR and Active that were solid.

I am planning on Swapping the box to see if another HD100 I have will work better, That will rule out the rest of my network.
