Placeshifter or Client Ap for Smart TV
Has Sage considered creating an "Ap" for the new breed of Smart TV's? Seems like this would be a great way to go. A number of Manufacturers are introducing some form of this in their newer models.

Which one do you have in mind? As far as GoogleTV goes, I don't think they have released a SDK yet, and while they should be able to support the Android apps, I don't think they've really made it that easy just yet...

Well I had not really been paying attention to the new so-called "smart tv's". I know several mfgs have introduced models and others announced they were working future models, but really didn't care one way or the other.
Having said that we recently purchased a new Samsung because it was to good a deal to pass up. Turns out it is a smart model. Hooked up the ethernet cable and was blown away what this thing could do. They have a couple hundred APPs available now with new ones being introduced almost daily. Panasonic and LG are about the same. It got me thinking that a SAGE placeshifter APP would be very cool. No extender needed. If this is indeed the way the industry is headed, as I have read, then I think it could be very good for SAGE TV. There has been some rumblings that an App for WMC is forthcoming. In essence you end up with a media server and just smart tv's, around the house. |

samsung apps
does your samsung allow you to browse your server as well or go through a file manager to grab a video file for instance or check your email via a browser?
