Me Again, So Close to buying, Turner Choice Help!

Hey Guys,

I have posted a few posts in here before, mostly last month,

but I have been trying to scrounge up enough money for my sage,

and in my previous posts, Ive asked which turner to get, and mostly everyone recommended me get the pvr 250,

but now as I look today, see that sage doesn't offer it as a bundle anymore...

now Im confused on what to get, what is this blackbird, or what ever.

My setup will be with dig cable. One turner for now.

Thanks , cc

It's basically a newer version/different design of the 250, one of the Blackbird+SageTV bundles should work just fine.

thanks stranger,

so I take it, everything else that everyone else had told me, about using the serial cable if possible, and everything thing else will be the same.

Also, does the blackbird, have a tv out, or will I still need to use the video cards tv out??

Thanks again!

The card is functionally equivalent to the 250 (no-TV out), so everything should be the same.

Thanks, Stranger.

Also, with that same card, I assume that I will still be able to use the music, & video features??

Also, can you give me any recommendations on some software that I will want to check out, in order to be able to edit, my recorded video, and then burn it to dvd etc...Just want to be looking ahead.

Also can someone give me the cables that I am going to need again, to get everything hooked up, want to get thoughs ahead of time also.

Thanks, cc

For editing software Womble is very powerful and fast! I use it to cut out commercials and save the video. Takes about 10 min once cutting is done for software to put everything back together. doesnt have to re-encode. And this is on a xp2500. cost $100

The music/video stuff doesn't depend on which tuner card, so it will be the same.

For editing, Womble and VideoRedo seem to be the most popular, and TMPG DVD Author is a popular DVD authoring program, you'd then need something to burn the authored DVD to disk (like Nero).

For Cables:
S-Video from cable box to 250
Mini to RCA from cable box to 250
Serial or USB-UIRT to control cable box
PC to TV/Sound will depend on your equipment (which I don't remember).

Do you mean PC to TV? You need to know what connections your TV has, do you have a reciever, what connection does it have, etc?

I have a dig cable box, souround sound dvd/vcr, and ps2.

As for my tv, I think I will need to get a switch for it, like you recomened, to switch different things, like this one

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....oryId=cat08063Click Here

But I need to also know, is if I use a switch, is there a way I can still get everything that I used the switch for to play its audio throught the souround sounds speakers?

Thanks, cc

I remember now, you'll probably need an S-Video cable to go from the PC to the TV (or switch) and a second audio cable like I liked above.

If you run the audio into the reciever thingy, then it will come out the speakers.

Well then, guess I need to pay more attention (I'm still stuck in v15 250 world). He'll still need one adapter for audio output probably.

you mean from his sound card yes
he will need that cable then
or an optical cable if his sound card has the output

also just remember with those true RCA inputs you get no remote control port though

well if you buy a sage TV bundle with the remote you do not need a remote port
but if you buy a sagebundle without a remote you will need to buy a third party remote but in either case you will not need the remote port
the remote port is only for the hauppauge remote which does not come in the current sage bundles exceot the pvr 350 and pvr usb2
look at this site as well for good deals on sageTV products

350s but there are dissappointments to it
it only works with the OSD with a few mobo chipsets
ATI, nforce1,2, and a few VIA AMD mobo chipsets

furthermore it runs hot
also no DVD support or MP3 support

what is your current video card

I personally like the TV out on the nvidia cards better but the ATI's have a dongle for conponent outout to a HDTV

there are ways around the DVD and MP3 problems though
