Java Heap running low after 12 hours

I am running SageTV 7.1.5 on Win7, 64bit with 8gb ram. Java 1.6.0_24. I have my heap set to 1024. I am using the diamondUI plugin, and have noticed that with 2 extenders (both H200) my heap will run low after 12 hours. A quick fix is to restart the service, but I would like to find the cause of this.

I have 2 HD-pvrs, and 4 OTA tuners, (2 silicondust hdhr). Most of the time I am recording only a single channel, and it will run low.

My current stats are 743/1038/1038. I notice it getting very unstable when I increase the memory to more than 1024 in the registry, so I have left it here.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look over in the Diamond forum and I think you will see what the issue may be. There is a memory leak issue which they have fixed for the next release and have posted a work around in the meantime.

I don't use the Movies/Videos

I think you are referring to this:

http://code.google.com/p/sagediamond...n=1&q=critical

and from what I can tell it only affects the videos/movies. Everything I use is under tv->recordings, or live TV. Nevertheless, I went ahead and disabled the info fade. I am not optimistic that this will help, but its better than doing nothing at all.

Is there a way to tell what portion of sage is using more memory?

Thanks!

How many recordings do you have? Heavy fanart usage can get you up above 750 easily. Are you seeing slowdowns? (you shouldn't be) have you tried just the default (heap will be allot less because no fanart is being used.

Cheers

I have 135 different shows, and something like 400+ episodes. Should I disable the fan-art in the diamondUI to reduce the heap?

Are you actually seeing slowdowns? Java tends to hold on to memory after using it. In other words it would hold on to the max used even though it nay not be using all of it.

It runs very well if I reboot it daily to keep it from running out of memory, otherwise it will run very slow, and start skipping.

It does seem to improve after disabling the info fade, even though I don't use videos/movies. Not sure if that is just "luck" or a real solution.

Well there wheee two memory issues we adjusted in this build. One was info fade and the other was with all background fanart loading. Let me know if it doesn't fix it after release.
