XBMC MetaData import

I am beginning to create metadata folders inside my TV show and movie folders. Currently I am making them in XBMC readable format but that isn't a requirement, it just worked our that it is a nice format.

Can SageTV use any of this metadata when importing from the mult-media directories? Is there a format that SageTV prefers if it can import this metadata?

Thanks,
Jonathan

You can take a look at Batch Metadata Tools. It doesn't import metadata from XMBC directly, but it will fetch metadata/fanart for your items. I'd recommend reading the user guide, as it does explain what the prefered naming formats are..

in a nutshell, if you want to use bmt... I'd stick with the following format formats (It supports others, but this is best supported)

For movies
Movie (Year) Any other Info.avi

For TV
Series S##E## Any Other Info.avi

I was hoping to avoid that because I have "SickBeard" creating the metadata already. I'll look at the four popular metadata formats it creates and maybe switch to something that is more generically usable.

You could just let Sickbeard rename the file and move it into a Sage import directory and let BMT fetch the metadata.

That is an option as well. It is currently being downloaded directly to a SageTV import directory and renamed. I have the option of not creating any metadata during post processing. I have never checked out BMT so maybe I'll look at that tonight.

If you are only using the files in Sage, then it works very well for me. I am not sure how it works when other streamers are involved.
